Tell Us Tuesday

Do you believe in soulmates?  Why or why not?

I do. However, I don't believe that everyone has only one soul mate in their life.

For instance, I was in a long term relationship (5 years) before Fi. There were many points were I thought that man was my soul mate. I don't think that anymore but at that time he was. Without that 5 year relationship I wouldn't be the person I am today and I wouldn't have fallen for FI the way I did. That relationship shaped me for what I was looking for in a husband. In so many ways it makes me value FI more for the man he is.

I am not sure. I guess so. I believe that my fiance and I were meant for each other - We fit together so perfectly. But like loton said, I also believe that some people have more than one match.

I don't really believe there is a "one", therefore I don't know if soulmates are really a thing. I think marriage is work and the whole idea of "the one" in my book makes it some sort of magical thing -- like no matter what, it will work because you were meant for each other. And I don't think that's realistic or true when it comes to a lifelong partnership.

However, FI and I are quite well-suited to each other. So I'm glad we found each other. But that's not to say that had we *not* found each other, we wouldn't have had successful relationships/marriages with other people.

i do believe in soul mates, but also believe there can be more then one. I was married before and I knew he was NOT my soul mate (but we had gotten pregnant and thought it was the right thing to do) I do know FI is my soulmate...but I think its possible another person could have been I just never met them.
