Where is your reception

Hi I am trying to help an out of town friend plan a wedding here in MI and have been married for a while and am a little out of the loop so I was wondering if you could let me know where you are having your reception or any other reception sites that you thought were really cool. Just trying to get some ideas. Thanks

We are having our reception @ Lakeland Manor on Harper in St. Clair Shores.  Craig, the owner, was the nicest and most inviting person we dealt with.  We looked at 6 venues, and he was the only one that could answer all our questions, talked to us as if we were his friends, gave us an abundance of food to taste, and let us walk through his kitchen!  There is no hall rental fee and pretty much everything is included in the per person fee (chair covers, deserts, 3 meat buffet, colored napkins, white linens, etc).  They really take care of you there and we are excited to have them host our reception.
If you are looking for great food and to be the only reception going on, give him a call.  I think the venue holds 300? Not sure- ours is 250. You could make this as formal or as casual as you want.  I know that the days are booking up fast so I would go see this place if you live nearby.  www.lakelandmanor.com

    Ditto.
But to answer your questions: My reception is at Sheraton in Novi.  If I could do it over, I would have selected the Inn at St. Johns in Plymouth.  Both were within my budget, but I chose the Sheraton because there were less choices to be made and I had already seen a wedding done there.  Now I regret that choice for the exact same reasons I chose it in the first place.

Check the stickies at the top of the forum (the posts that have little thumb tacks next to them). There are lots of ideas there.

I'm having mine at the Detroit Yacht Club on Belle Isle. Other City of Detroit options could include the Atheneum, the MGM or Motor City casinos, the Masonic Theater, the Gem, The Westin Book Cadillac, the Doubletree Fort Shelby, the Marriott Renaissance Center, the Scarab Club, the Casino on Belle Isle (not an actual casino, just an empty building they rent for events).

These are in a range of prices, many probably on a higher end. But, just some thoughts.

    fair enough :)

Mine will be at the Italian American Banquet Center.  I actually REALLY wanted to have ours at the Inn at St. Johns in Plymouth but it was out of our price range.

</div><div>I have been to a wedding at St. Johns and it was lovely. However, I had my wedding at the Sheraton last year, and I have to admit (I know, I'm a bit biased) but the food was SOOOO much better at the Sheraton. All of my guest gave me so many complements and the hotel staff went above and beyond for me. If you want just send me a message and I can let you know everything they did that made the day so wonderful and helped me keep my sanity. Don't regret your decision, I know I didn't! I would recommend anyone to them in heartbeat!

My reception is at The Iroquois Club in Bloomfield Hills. The event coordinator, Kelly, is extremely helpful and very accommodating to any changes I want to the wedding package so I don't go over my budget. I haven't tried the food yet though, fingers crossed that it's good!

We were going to have our wedding/reception there but the reception part just wasn't in our budget. We simply couldn't afford to spend the $6,000 on food and rentals there. Instead we're most likely doing the Troy Community Center. It's close to the ceremony site, what we can afford and just the right size for our small wedding.

MacRay Harbor in Harrison Twp is where we're having ours and it's AMAZING!  It's on the water, and the room is all windows.  If you do it on a Saturday night in April to September the minimum spend amount is $18,000, but if it's a Saturday in October to March, or a Friday night any month of the year, there's no minimum!  We got a great deal for 10/20/12!  Oh, and some local bridal magazines have MacRay ads, and if you bring it in they give you a free booking incentive :)  They threw in free tray passed hors douerves for us!!!  They're great to work with :))
