Arthur Murray vs DNY

I am trying my damndest to convince FI to take 3 dance lessons with me. While I am comfortable dancing, I have never seen him dance, and I really don't want to just shuffle in one spot for the entire song. Which would you recommend? Arthur Murray in White Plains or Dance New York in Briarcliff? Thanks :)

    My FI and I are taking dance lessons at DNY starting this Thursday.  I've never been there before, so I can't say I'd personally recommend them yet, but it was recommended to us by a few friends.  They've been very nice leading up to our first appointment - even called to ask if we'd be more comfortable in a private instruction room when one opened up.  Hope that helps a little!

    Can I ask how far in advance you booked your first class?? Do I need to book soon for summer private lessons?

    We booked our 3 lessons several months ago, I think it may have been January...?  They weren't booked up at that point, and our lessons are scattered over the next month, ending at the end of May.  I'd say, if you have a packed schedule and need specific times, etc, book as soon as you can, just for your own peace of mind!

    I used Dance NY Westchester! They were great and our dance was awesome. We did private lessons to our song.

    oh and I'm dying to go back to take regular lessons as it was SO much fun! We had one of the owner's teaching us- Suzanne!

    oh and I guess I should give you all some tips for lessons (we did 6 lessons- the 5 wedding package and added 1 extra the day before the RD):

    Wear shoes similar to the ones you plan on wearing on your wedding day

    Dress comfortably, but if you have a poofy dress like mine was, find something that you can wear at your last lesson to show you the difference with the dress on (I used my petticoat)

    bring a CD with your music if doing the wedding lessons

    figure out around how big your dance floor is

    ask your venue if you can practice on their dance floor if they have any time available

    the first lesson isn't much... for us it was figuring out what dance (we did the foxtrot to our song since it was upbeat) so just keep an open mind and have fun! They will help you a lot along the way!
