From what I understand, you tip the vendors who do not own their business.  If they own the business, then tipping can be at your discretion since the entire profit will go to them anyhow.  If they are just an employee of the company, it's appropriate to tip them for their service.

Someone posted a link to a website that explained it well.  Maybe it was Erin??  Anyone?

We plan to tip the DJ, hair, and makeup people for sure and will most likely tip the photographer, videographer, photobooth and coordinator even though they all own the company themselves.  I have heard you should tip 10-20% as you would with a server or hair stylist, but I would not be comfortable giving over $75-$100 per person/vendor unless I was absolutely blown away by their service.

I was really clueless about this before, but this is info that I've gathered here on the board.  Hope it helps!

Yeah, okay so anyone feel free to talk bad about me (lol) but all of my vendors own their own companies so since I am paying alot of money to them already, I was kinda thinking a tip would not be necessary. I really have a great "relationship" with most of my important vendors and I kinda planned on getting them gifts???

Another thing you should look into is whether or not tip is included.  I know a lot of limo company's include a tip for the driver in the contract amount.

Yup, like others said, tip those who work for the company but don't own the company. Escpecially tip vendors who are there all night. And really tip the vendors that are there before, during and after (like DJs, photobooth hosts, lighting crew)!!! That's a super long day for them and really exhausting.

Photog- owns her business so no tip
    venue-included in price per person
Dj- tipping like $50 because he is just an employee
    Cake baker-owns business no tip
cake deliverer- if it isnt the owner Ill give the delivery person like $30
Shutterbooth Attendant- nolan at southeast michigan shutterbooth said they are paid super well to make sure they are " excited" and happy to be working so maybe Ill give like $25
Officient-entire fee goes to him because thats all he does
    Linens- owns her own business

I think thats about it for me.
