Please help, looking for a ceremony location. Only about 50 guests.

Hi there..I'm getting married at the end of next June. I have looked every where for an outdoor location for JUST a ceremony, with an indoor location nearby just in case it rains. So far I have looked at:

Greenfield Village - a bit too pricey for just 2 hours, but pics would be gorgeous!
Cobblestone Manor in Auburn Hills - best one yet, but it's a 45 min drive from Livonia
Mills Race in Northville - a bit pricey for what you get
Greenmead in Livonia - Price is right, but wanted something a little more
Dearborn Inn - You have to host your reception there as well
Detroit Zoo - Pricey, and the times don't fit for our reception
Kellogg Park Plymouth - Another cheap option, but lacks the intimacey I'm looking for
Henry Ford Estate - No longer does weddings :/

I've also looked into a few churches in Detroit that you don't need to belong to or share their faith. The buildings are beautiful, but the price is OUTRAGEOUS! I'm not paying $2200 for a 15 minute cerremony.

If any one has any ideas I would GREATLY appreciate it, I'm really looking for a quiet, photo opportunity setting etc. I would also like to stay within a half hour drive of the reception hall in Livonia.

Thank you SO much in advance, I've been searching for months and I'm starting to panic! LOL!

  • Im not sure of much in the Livonia area , but we really wanted to hold ours at Vinology in Ann Arbor. Its GORGEOUS!!!!!
  • It may be too far from Livonia for you, but there is the Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Garden at Heritage Park in Taylor. It is run by Crystal Gardens, you would book thru them. It's pretty for a ceremony. You can find them on Crystal Gardens website or they have their own website, with pics.

We got married at Greenmead, but you already ruled that out. Did you go and look at it? Their gardens are fabulous, and I'm not sure if they require an outdoor wedding to be in any specific area, but with all the historic buildings surrounding any area you might set up the outdoor option around, I'm surprised it's not your style. It's about the only outdoor place we found with an indoor option when we were looking, but we decided to book the chapel and use it because it was so cute.

You could look into Madonna University, I know they have a chapel, but I don't know anything about their gardens/outdoor spaces. Same with Schoolcraft College.

There is a nice covered pavilion at Beverly Hills Park on Beverly Rd (13 1/2 mile) in Beverly Hills, just west of Southfield Rd. . It's just a pavilion, no gardens, and not sure of the price.

There's also some sort of small chapel in Troy's "historic village", not sure where it is or how much it costs. That's a bit far from Livonia though.

Sorry, that's all I'm aware of.

    Good luck in your search.
  • Sue's suggestion of the chapel at the Troy Historical Museum is a good one.  It's really cute in there.  And, they let you ring the church bell. :)  They also have a gazebo in the center courtyard.  It's pretty.  No idea what they charge.

You mentioned that you were checking out churches in Detroit, so I'm making the assumption that it's not too far for you. I'd recommend the Scarab Club.  It's really pretty, but was too small for our needs.  Might be great for you.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions!

My fiance and I just took the plunge and went with Cobblestone Manor in Auburn Hills. I LOVED the place but was worried about the drive for my guests. But since it's going to be a small ceremony with only the bridal party and close family there won't be too many people that will have to travel. Plenty of time to drive back in the afternoon to celebrate with the rest of our guests that night!

    259 days! Now, to find a dress...lol.
