Is this weird???

My FI and I are interviewing our first photographer this week.  Instead of meeting at his office (assuming that he has one) he has asked us to meet him at a Panera.  Is this normal?

If he had an office I'm sure he'd meet you there.  We met our photographer at her house, so there's stranger places to meet.  I think it's a-okay.

  • I don't think that's weird. The office might be in his/her home and I personally would be more comfortable meeting somewhere public than that.

ok, thanks for making me feel better everyone!

  • I just scheduled an appointment with our first photographer and we are meeting at Starbucks. It seems a little weird to me too but I know a lot of photographers are sole proprietors and work out of their home. I contacted someone with really low prices so I assume the lack of overhead helps keep the price down. If the photographer was charging 2000+ I would expect them to work out of a studio, but I dont know if that is a fair assumption to make.
  • We did meet our photographer at her studio, but I have heard of photographers doing this. We had a meeting set up with a DJ at a Panera, I wouldnt worry about it, I would feel weirder going to someones house.

  • Many of the photographers we talked to liked to meet in public places. By all means, I loved having the lower price for great quality work without having to worry about the upcharge for their overhead costs!

  • Some photographers do this as a side job, not a full-time job. Some don't have offices, whether they are full-time or not. I'd much prefer to meet someone in a public place like a Panera versus someone's home. Panera is a perfectly normal place to have a business meeting.
