Is my floral budget even possible?

Flowers are the next big thing on my list...I need a bridal bouquet, 5 bridesmaids bouquets, 1 jr bridesmiads bouquet, 9 bouts, 5 corsages, and 10 or 11 centerpieces...and maybe one arrangment for the church. My budget is $1,000. Is this even possible at a florist? I'm looking at purchasing a sam's club floral package (http://www.samsclub.com/sams/wedding-collection-hot-pink-green-orange-43-pc/prod4400465.ip?navAction=push), but it has a lot of things that I don't necessaraly need and I'm kind of nervous about putting together centerpieces that aren't gonna look like crap. My mom is insistant on have a few tall arrangments with curly willow brances and  I kinda think she might be dreaming too big for something we'd pretty much have to diy.

Soo...what you guys think? Is any florist gonna fit my budget? I was thinking maybe Nino Salvaggio or English Gardens might be a good option. I also just saw an ad for Party Blossoms, which advertises being "affordable" Undecided

  • Talk to April thru April Irelynn Designs. She is wonderful and affordable!! aprilirelynndsg@yahoo.com

  • I've heard a lot of good stuff about her, I'm gonna get in contact with her.
  • Your standard floral shops are mostly going to be over your budget.  I would say your best bet is likely Sam's Club for real flowers.

Sue used Sam's so if you have questions she would be a great person to ask.  Just page her with a thread titled her name and she'll respond in a day or two.

  • It is possible to do under $1000, but you will have to do a bit of DIY.

You don't say whether you are picky about the types of flowers or colors. Our wedding was in August of 2011 and we used all white flowers. You can get packages in colors other than white, however.

I ordered the 20 piece white rose package from Costco's website. At that time it was $399. You have to order at least 30 days in advance, and frankly, I'd wait until about 2-3 months beforehand before you start stalking the site, but take a look and see what you can get. I was VERY pleased with what we got for bouquets, bouts, corsages.

The 20 pieces are interchangeable, in other words, the original package included 2 BM bouquets, and 3 centerpieces, but I needed 3 BM bouquets. No problem, they swapped it out. You cannot change the number of corsages or bouts you get, so even if they supply more than you need, the package price is the package price, and they ship you what it includes no matter what (due to the way the shipping package is constructed, with openings for each and everything). Based on the list below you could swap out the 3 centerpieces and have them be 3 bouquets, so you'd have 5 BM bouquets, plus yours. The "toss bouquet" in my package was a lovely white carnation bouquet, with the lacey plastic around it, maybe your junior BM could carry that? Also, the "1 rose petal bud" in the package is actually the size of a bouquet, but the stems aren't wrapped, simply a bouquet you can pick the petals from if you want petals.  You'd have enough corsages, but be short a bout, maybe turn a corsage into a bout?

We were VERY pleased with the flowers, they lasted 7-10 days after the wedding, we put the bouquets in water and they were still lovely.

As for bulk flowers from Costco, if you don't have a membership, check with your friends and family. I found out from the Costco we go to (Roseville) that the florist who does the bouquets for their kiosk in the store will special order for anyone certain flowers for special occasions. What she has available is whatever bulk flowers are on the Costco website. I felt better ordering from her, because I could see what I was getting, without waiting for the items to be delivered to my home. She does about 18 wedding special orders a week in the summer. I ordered 80 stems of White Asiatic lillies, 96 (8 dozen) long stemmed white Vendella roses, and 2 very large bunches of baby's breath for $173. I picked up the flowers the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding, made all 10 centerpieces the morning of our rehearsal dinner, 5 tall, 5 short. You could add the long curly willow that you buy at a craft store, we had some but didn't put it in.

I basically got all the flowers for the items you listed for under $600. I've had a garden for ages, so I was able to arrange all my centerpieces myself. There are tons of DIY videos online if you or your family is challenged, or you can send me a private message with the link below and I'd be happy to tell you where you can get everything you need.

I just copied Costco's list of the 20 piece package below (link here: http://www.costco.com/Simply-Elegant-Wedding-Rose-Collections-Solid-Colors.product.11044147.html

    Good luck!

  • Forgot to mention: Costco membership is $55, and to be honest, it's worth every penny. You can get other things there in bulk, like candies for favors, etc. We don't go there more than 3-4 times a year, but every time I go they have so much new stuff, plus I get coupons in the mail.

  • Check with Michele Nonis. I don't have her phone number handy, but if you search this board you might find it...several people have used her.

I had something similar to what you're describing, but I had more centerpieces, and my bill was $1300 or $1400. I definitely think she can work within budgets, and she'll tell you if it's something she can't do.

  • You need to get in touch with Wafaa Gatie. she will work.with you like no other. Im having her do my chairs overs, table overlays, backdrop draping, 30 centerpieces, plus all the bouquets and bout's, plus 2 large arraignments for church for around 5000.. and her work is the best ive seen. My mom was a florist for many years and cannot believe the value and quality we are getting. Also, a few of my friends used her and their weddings were magical. Message me if you'd like her number.
