So... we didn't get to go on our dream honeymoon

Hi ladies! I was married on June 12 and spent a lot of time on here planning my big day. We ran into some issues with our honeymoon so I thought I would get on here and give a heads up to all of you!

DH and I decided to go to Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora for our honeymoon. It was  HUGE decision and we really worked very hard to save for it. It literally was going to be a dream come true for us!

We flew to LA the night before and went to the airport to catch our flight to Tahiti the next day to learn it was cancelled! Finally an airline rep came to talk to us and informed us that there was a strike in the country and no flights were coming in and out. Flight had been cancelled beginning 4 days before! We stuck around in LA another day to see how things would work out, but when all was said and done, we weren't able to get to Tahiti.

Our travel agent was able to rebook us a trip the next day to Hawaii. (We went to Maui, Oahu and Kauai!) Because we had travel insurance, we were reimbursed for our entire trip and got a $300 credit toward any expenses we incurred while stranded an extra day in LA.

The reason I am telling you all of this is I can't stress how happy I was I bought that travel insurance! I almost didn't, but decided to after all since it was such a big trip.  If you are in doubt, I would get it! I also recommend booking with a travel agent. (Not mine since I wasn't too happy she didn't let us know about the strike, but was excellent when we ran into a problem with our hotel earlier) She took care of everything and was able to turn everything around much quicker then we could have.

I hope none of you ever run into that type of bad luck, but it can happen! Be prepared! Good luck with your planning!

So sorry you didn't get to go on your dream honeymoon, but glad that the travel insurance worked out great for you and that you got to go someplace wonderful still.

Not only is Travel Insurance a wonderful thing but so is Wedding Insurance.  When we had to postpone, they reimbursed us for all our expenses related to anything with a date - the new invites, menus, favors, everything and the Travel Insurance took care of the honeymoon part.
