Florists.. and centerpiece ideas....Who is everyone using?

Hi fellow Knotties :),
I am excited and can't believe my wedding is less than 6 months away! I'm getting married Aug. 27 and I am looking for a good florist. My colors will be purple, with accents of pink. I need some ideas of flowers and also who is everyone using for their florist? Any satisfied brides who loved their floirst I'd love to hear anyone's reviews.

Thanks,

Nicole

Hello Date Twin!!! I'm using April Oboza of April Irelynn Floral & Design LLC . I think a few other knotties have used her as well. Try the stickies at the top of the page. She's amazing to work with when I really had no clue what I wanted she sent me pics and ideas. Check her out on fb.

    Happy planning

Yes April is the bomb and I am using her as well in September. She does not have a website but her facebook page is awesome. A knottie on this board had a purple wedding too and her flowers were FAB! HTH and good luck!

I checked out April but felt I needed a bit more guidance, I feel like she would of been great if I had already known what I wanted, but she didn't really have any suggestions when I needed an opinion on what kind of flowers would go well with my dress (my dress has flowers on it too), and there were some flowers I was interested in that she couldn't get. I ended up going with linnaea foral design, they're sisters with quite a bit of experience but just started their own business so they're fairly inexpensive.

For $850 I'm getting my bouquet and four bridesmaids bouquets which will use yves piaget garden roses and ranunculus, two ranunculus corsages for the moms, and 17 centerpieces, half manzanita branches with garden roses around the bottom and ranunculus wires to the branches, and half garden rose pomanders.

Hi! I'm using The Parsonage in Clarkston and my FSIL is using Irish Rose in Royal Oak. I highly recommend both.

I also used linnaea foral design for my wedding and loved them!  The first florist I talked with wanted $250 for my bouquet alone... are you kidding me!  Erin and Lisa have great ideas and extensive knowledge of different flowers.  I would definantely recommend them.

For bouquets and bouts we are using Vivianos.  I priced out several places and the were the cheapest.  I am getting my bouquet(roses, orchids, stephanotis), 4 bridesmaids bouquets( roses and stephanotis), 2 jr bridesmaids bouquets (rose and stephanotis just a little smaller than bridesmaids), flower girl bouquet( 4 roses with a couple stephanotis), grooms bout (rose and stephanotis), 9 bouts for groomsmen and ushers and ringbearer (just roses), 3 mothers bout and 3 dads bouts (orchids) and 1 grandma and 1 grandpa bout (roses), plus 3 long stem white calla lilies for about $700.  The few other places I priced were in the range of $900-$1300 for same order.

Centerpieces come with our hall.  The florist they use is Irish Rose.  There is a $25 limit per table and with that we are getting a square vase with 12-15 red roses and rose petals to go on the table.  There was several centerpieces that we could choose in that price range though.

We're going with Bellisario.  I met with about three vendors, and Ralph was the only one who was willing to take time to listen to my ideas for the wedding.  He also does chair covers and linens.  He is pricey, but if you need to dress up your hall he can do it.

I'll steer you away from Blossom's floral in Birmingham - they have a good reputation, but the person I met with spent the entire time venting to me about other brides and their drama!  All I could think about was what stories he would tell about me.

Thanks for asking this question Nicole, because I am in the same situation.  Thanks to all the Knotties for your suggestions, notes well taken ....

@ Zulamay , how pricey was Bellisario? What's his price range for flowers & linens. I have an appointment with him on Sunday and would like an idea of what I am walking into.

I am also using Bellisarios. They have a lot of great stuff already in their showroom that they work off of with your ideas to make it  your own individualized concept.  I liked that.  I met with Jennie and she was awesome.

I was considerin the parsonage and I really liked them but I had a specific Idea in mind and they didn't have the supplies on hand to help me visualize what it would look like!!  The are a great option also!

Jamaicangirl79  I think he's one of those that says "what's your budget?" and then prices you at that number.  He quoted me for $3,000 for flowers and linens, but I'm knocking that down significantly.  I'm pretty sure I'm cutting the linens, aisle flowers, and a few arrangements for the reception (e.g. gift card table) to knock down the price to about $1,500.  At that, he's within reason of other vendors. As Imalear says, he is really good about having a vision and helping work with you to create a day for you.  That's what made me pick him, because he's not just giving you a cookie-cutter flower arrangement - he brings ideas to the table.  Also, he will meet with you and do a flower arrangement and linen showing at your venue several months before the wedding for free. I guess I finally decided I'm paying for service as much as anything else.
