Photography Contract Question

How are you paying your photographer? Are you paying all up front or waiting to receiving product before making final payment? What is standard? We have found our photographer and are now working out our contract with her. Advice is appreciated.

Our photographer is a family friend so its alitte different.  We paid half as the deposit, and will pay the other half when we get the end product

We paid an initial deposit, had 2 more payments before the wedding, and the last payment was due when we picked up our proofs.

We paid 1/3 up front, 1/3 a week before the wedding and 1/3 when we picked up the DVD of proofs.

We put down 1/3 deposit, and the remaining balance has to be paid prior to the wedding date.

we put 1/3 down as deposit, another 1/3 is due like a month before the wedding I think. the last 1/3 is due upon final album approval (which I might just prolong on purpose LOL)

we paid 1/3 deposit,1/3 2 weeks before the wedding & the last payment upon reciept of our proofs.

i remember we had a $500 deposit, then one payment prior, one payment due by the day of and the final payment was due upon picking up the proofs.

We put down a deposit of 25%, another 50% is due a week before the wedding and we have to pay the remainder when we pick up our proofs.

We paid a deposit to book, then a portion right before the wedding and then the final payment wasn't due until we picked up our albums.

Thanks everyone. While our photographer originally asked for a 50% deposit, 50% week of the wedding, she now offered to do a 1/3 deposit, 1/3 the week of the wedding and 1/3 upon pick up of the materials, so that is what we are going to do. I'm glad to hear others did this. Yea! Photographer is checked off the list!
