So this may be a long post (sorry ladies). My parents, especially my mom is driving me nuts. She asks me everytime the wedding comes up about how much money my FI's family is contributing. The issue with this, beyond just being rude, is that his parents are going through a divorce, having money issues, and haven't offered anything. I DO NOT feel comfortable asking them for money and although I'm grateful my parents are contributing, I'm not sure how to handle these questions tactfully.
As if that isn't enough, she feels we shouldn't book anything because we "could win discounts" at bridal shows and it's too early. Part of me knows that it is early but locking in this years pricing and guaranteeing availability seems like the wiser decision than 8 months of shopping around. I know at some point I'll just have to put on my big girl pants and do it on my own, but I really had hoped to do this with her.
Anyone else dealing with something similar.
How I unwind? The FI and I watch old TV shows
