When did you get engaged and when did you join the knot? How did you find the Detroit board?

I got engaged on September 11, 2009 and joined about 5 days later (according to the date underneath my name). I came to the Detroit board after a friend recommended it for all the fantastic ladies and the vendor reviews!

Got engaged on June 1, 2010 and joined TK a few months after (see date <-----) A friend of mine had recently planned her wedding and recommended the Detroit board

I got engaged Decmber 17, 2010 and apparently joined the next day.  I lurked on the knot before then, because I hear other people have about it. I don't even remember how I found the Detroit board.

I got engaged on February 28, 2011, and we got married September 17, 2011.  I joined the knot the summer before that, though, because I stumbled upon it doing some not-wedding-related google search.  There was a slideshow of food trends, and I wanted to see it, but I couldn't get past slide 3 without creating a membership.  So I did. 

But then I had to put in my name.  And his name.  And a wedding date.  And to speed the process along, I just made some stuff up.  FI John Jones, wedding date April 7, 2012...  But then I started receiving vendor-related mail addressed to "Melissa X and FI John Jones." or "The Future Mrs. John Jones."

So I had to sit FI down and explain to him that if he stumbled across this mail, he needed to know that I was definitely not secretly engaged to someone else and definitely not planning a wedding and that my joining the knot was in no way a statement about my expectations that he would propose or an attempt to pressure him into marriage...lol. 

Oh, and I checked out the Detroit board because I was curious if anyone had any ideas about local parks.  But I stayed because you're all so much less terrifying than the etiquette board.

I joined almost 3 years ago. I was looking up someone's wedding web page and then started to look at other things. I had to join to continue on so I did. I entered a bunch of fake info though.

I have been on the Detroit board about 2 months after we got engaged. Someone recommend it to me and I couln't be happier about that.

I got engaged on April 2, 2011 and joined under this account about a month later (after I learned I didn't want to post on the forums using my actual name. Duh.)

It's possible I created a Knot account at least a year before getting engaged. In fact, at one point I thought maybe I'd created a wedding website with a fake wedding date of November 2011. My friends enjoyed teasing me about that one!

FI surprised me by taking me to the jewelry store in May 2010 to pick out a ring but didn't propose until August 7, 2010. Since I knew it was coming and was thinking about wedding stuff, a friend told me about TK and I lurked but didn't want to "sign up" until I was officially engaged... so I signed up the next day, haha. I don't remember how I found the Detroit board but I LOVE IT!

I got engaged on September 29, 2011, and I joined on 10/5.  I've been wanting to marry my man since I met him so I didn't waste any time!!!

I got engaged December 25, 2010. According to the date by my name, I joined TK in January, I believe it was to use it to look for vendors and such. I didn't notice the message boards or start posting until May though.

I got engaged April 13, 2011. I joined TK in June while searching for vendors. I did not know anything about the boards and somehow stumbled onto them a few weeks later and I am so thankful I did.

In the summer of 2010 FI took me ring shopping to see what kind of style I liked. Since I knew we would eventaully be engaged I joined TK just to stalk wedding stuff. He actually proposed on Christmas day 2010.

I got engaged 10-9-10.  I joined before that though when I was MOH for one of my friends and was helping her plan stuff.  I found the message boards as a whole a few days/weeks (I don't remember) of just looking at stuff and stumbled onto it.

I got engaged 9/19/10 but joined earlier that year because I was standing up in a friends wedding and TK wouldnt let me read MOH articles till I joined.  I joined this board to get the reviews and advice!

I got engaged July 9, 2011 but joined TK in January 2011. The Detroit board was recommended to me by old Knottie *japow1984* when I was drilling the poor girl for the details of her awesome wedding! I knew in January we would be engaged soon, but my sister got married June 2011 so we waiting until after that to make it official.

Hi ladies, I posted on the "new here: read this first" sticky awhile ago but haven't really posted anywhere else on this board (that I can remember!) since then, so I figured I'd stop lurking and start posting!

I got engaged May 16, 2011 and I joined the knot about a month before that on April 25, 2011. I knew it was coming soon and my FSIL had told me about  theknot so I figured I would start looking!

I found the Detroit board a little while later when I was just browsing the site!

He first asked me in ' 07, but I told him you are asking the wrong person, and that he had to talk to my Dad! Well he decided to wait until he was done with school and had a full-time job (smart man) and he asked Dad early this year. I found a picture thru a search engine I wanted to enlarge, but I had to join The Knot to view it... and here I am.

I got engaged last year December but I knew it would be coming eventually as we had been dating for a few years and discussed married. I'm not sure wen I joined The Knot but I looked to the Detroit board as soon as I actually started planning!!
