Looked at 2 halls yesturday

Yay! Some actual planning is taking place and it feels sooo good! We went to see to 2 halls yesturday. Stone Creek in Flat Rock and Arnoldos in Riverview.

By the pictures and the look of Stone creek, I thought Id love it, and dont get me wrong its beautiful!!!!! A few things I wernt crazy out. They want you to be out by midnight, you only get the bar for 5 hrs, and I kinda thought you didnt get alot of food for the money. I loved the setting though, and the room had tons of windows which made it feel big and open.

Then we went to Arnolds. RIght off the bat, I want to say the guy that wsa showing us around was so nice! Very welcoming and generally intrested in what we were telling him. The place on the outside is just normal. Nothing special, but inside. Wow. Gorgouse!! Totally different then stone creek...but way more my personality! Sparkly! lol. The bar area is just awsome. The prices were great too and you got a TON of food!!!! They dont charge a bunch of extra fees either!!! Im in love with it and its gonna be hard to top it for me. If I could have, I would of signed the contract right then.

Today we are off to see Orlandos in Riverview. Im not crazy about this place. My FMIL loves it..and is pushing us to see it. Im hoping they are more then arnoldos, so we can just cross it off the list..LOL.

Glad it went well! We booked Stone Creek, but for us it was a bit different because our reception starts a bit earlier and ends at 10:30, so the bar/leaving time wasn't really an issue for us. And the windows/nature feel was more us than the sparkly/mural stuff. But I hope for you that you found the one, it's such a relief to be able to check the venue off your list! Don't let your FMIL sway you, definitely go with the one that suits your tastes the best.

I think the next two halls we see will be Arnaldo's and Stone Creek.  We kind of took a break from wedding planning (but we're getting right back on the horse this week).  We saw Crystal Gardens and Orlando's a few weeks ago.  It felt like we were going from a Bentley to an Escort- nothing's wrong with the Focus, but if we can afford the Bentley, we're probably going with the Bentley.  Maybe it looks different in the summer (since our weddings are in the summer), but I didn't enjoy it that much.  I want to see Arnaldo's and Stone Creek soon, but I'm scared of their minimums.  I don't think we can afford 180 people.  Good luck with the hall search!  I love seeing anothing downriver knottie.  Let me know what you find!!

Oh, and Orlando's is cheaper than Arnaldo's by about 7 pp.  27.49 pp for 3 entree buffet and 7.99 pp for their bar package, no gratuity just tax.  If your FMIL is helping you pay, she will like that price better.  If she's not helping you pay, who cares what she thinks? It's your wedding, lol. 

And one more thing I didn't like about Orlando- the lady that gave us the tour had no idea who we were even though we made an appointment like three days earlier.  She thought we were there for a Quinceanera.

Stone Creek is beautiful in the summer - we went and looked around the time we got engaged because FMIL loves that place. There were a lot of things that we didn't like about it as well and ended up not booking it but I have to say the atmosphere is beautiful!

We booked Arnaldo's.  It really is a beautiful hall!

Well We picked Arnoldos. FMIL didnt end up liking Orlandos at all..Yay for me...lol

Well tommorow we are signing the contract! Yay!! Im so excited..yet a bit nervouse too.

If you dont mind me asking what were the prices at arnolds? Trying to get an idea of how much we have to save because i seen the pics of the place and i already love it
