Engagment photos ideas around Rochester Hills area?

Hi ladies!

I'm seriously drawing a blank on where to get my photos taken. I really wanted meadowbrook after I saw pictures of one of the brides on here get her's done there, but when I called, they informed me that don't allow photos unless I'm with a magazine and it would cost 2,000 dollars. I tried looking at previous posts but for some reason it won't let me search for them....

Soooo any ideas?? It'll be during May so I want outdoors- trees, green grass, all that good stuff,  I kind of want privacy (me and my FI are kind of shy!) but I'm open to any suggestion really :) TIA

  • Any of the public parks are going to be quite lovely - Firefighters park is out that way, it's got a cute little river.

Yates cider mill is where I went for my engagement photos. There were TONS of people, but I went in the fall during apple/cider season so May would probably be a great time to go with few people to bother you (beautiful river and a rustic cider mill charm)

  • It's north, but try Stony Creek Metro Park. Or just try walking around downtown Rochester. The cute houses on the side streets will have flowers/gardens planted by then and the downtown shops will be decorated for spring. If you go during a weekday you'll get great lighting and there shouldn't be too many people around.
  • Oo I didn't even think of Stoney Creek or Yates Cider Mill :) Do I need to book anythign with Yates or do I just show up?

  • i did mine at meadowbrook but we didnt call first, we just went and nothing was said to us.
  • At Livernois and Avon Road (on Avon Rd) there is a gazebo.  I'd also recommend Stoney Creek.

  • Ours were at the Van Hoosen Farms down the street from Stoney Creek. Its a big open area with a ton of different places to have pictures taken - FI and I loved it because we got such a variety of pictures! :)
  • You can just show up at Yates, so long as you're only taking photos outside they can't really say anything. If you wanted pictures INSIDE, I imagine you'd have to contact someone.

  • Thanks again for the suggestions ladies...I'm getting them done at Yates :) My photographer said that meadowbrook changed their rules and can ticket you if your taking pictures on their property which is so lame because their property is SO pretty

  • We took ours at Rochester Municipal Park. They have a couple of bridges and a river running through where you can climb down into and stand on the rocks. It was nice.
