Does This Sound Right?

I ordered my wedding dress, veil, bra, and slip a month ago. I just received a call this Monday that my veil and bra had come in, so they wanted me to pick it up. Okay, no problem. But they also said that they wanted me to pay the remainder of my balance (I already paid half of the total) before the rest of the stuff comes in. My mother says I shouldn't pay the rest of it until the actual dress comes in, and says that my contract says I don't have to pay the full amount "until my materials come in."

Is it odd that they're already asking for the full amount? Should I listen to my mom and wait to pay the full amount until after I see my wedding dress?

I would wait since thats what your contract says.. but most places make you pay the whole thing just to placae your order for the dress.. alteast i paid for my dress from davids bridal before it actually came in

I would definitely wait to pay for it, especially if it says in your contract you do not have to pay in advance.

Edit: They may not let you pick up any of the items until the balance is completely paid, though. I would look into it!

I would wait until the dress is in. That's what I did; tried it on and made sure it fit before paying the balance. I bet if you bring up "our contract says..." they will drop it. Of course they'd like their money sooner...wouldn't all of us? ; That said, if you have the money now and like the feeling of getting things paid off, go for it. Just keep that contract handy...

Oh please wait.  If that is in your contract then you have the right to wait.  Why in the world would they want you to pay the balance now and you have no dress?   What is the reason for now wanting the balance up front?  Is the dress in or on its way or something?

I would personally call the store and explain the situation. It could be a simple miscommunication.

I would do what your contract does. I ordered mine a year ago so I can't remember if I paid the full amount before or after. I would also call the store and see if you can find out some more details.
