    There are some really cute cottages you can rent on lakes all over Michigan, or even right on Lake Michigan on the west side.  There are some REALLY cute little towns.

    Try this article.

     What about The Grand Hotel? is it in Machinac Island? My SIL stayed there once for a homeschool thing and really liked it.

    I would totally recommend Mackinac Island.  Fh and I are gonna do a mini-moon there before our real one a month later.  It is genuinely one of my favorite places in the world!

    The Traverse City area!  If you're into wine, it's really fun to drive up the Old Missing Peninsula and do wine tastings... you can see Lake Michigan from both sides, it's really beautiful.  There's tons of great restaurants, shopping, the beaches, etc up there.

    My family goes up there for at least a week every summer, so let me know if you want any more info about that area!

    Petoskey, Traverse City, Mackinaw Island.

    Your wedding is prime tourist season, so accomodations will be expensive. If you don't mind "roughing it" (not really rough, LOL), a couple of years ago we stayed in a wood cottage at Mackinaw Mill Creek. We had a view overlooking the Mackinac Bridge, on Lake Huron, really pretty. They have a fridge, stove, microwave, double bed in the cottages, we really loved it. Their website is here;

    You can drive to the ferry to get to Mackinac Island for a day if you want, plus you are within one day driving to Petoskey which is a fun little town, or Traverse City.

    I've also stayed at the Stafford Perry Hotel in Petoskey, also nice, historic rooms. The same company owns the Bay View Inn there as well. Website here:

    There's also Saugatuck on Lake Michigan, which is a fun, artsy, sort of "New England" type town.

    Try to stay in a B&B one night, they always have fabulous furnishings, and breakfasts!

    I highly recommend the Traverse City area, Mackinaw Island, or up in the UP like Munising.  If you want somewhere private I know a great B&B (45 minutes west of Ann Arbor) in a small town.  I lived there for a summer to help the owner (my former research adviser's husband) and it was amazing to see what he does for his visitors.

    I would highly recommend Grand Haven along Lake Michigan.  I lived there for a few years, fiance and I just moved to AA and we miss that area so much.  It is absolutely beautiful in the summer.

    Also if you want to go north try Charlevoix. It's 10 minutes from Petoskey and 40 from Mackinak.

    I know someone who got married at the Stafford Perry hotel... gorgeous!

    Personally, I wouldn't recommend the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.  I think they are a lot more, much nicer affordable accomodations.  The pool and grounds is gorgeous, but we were extremely extremely disappointed with our room.
