Tell Us Tuesday

Do you have any piercings and/or tattoos?  If so, what are they?  Do you regret piercing/tattooing anything?

Re: Tell Us Tuesday

  • I have my ears pierced.  Two in each ear.  And I also have a tattoo on my lower back.  My tattoo is a tribal tattoo with a heart in the middle and underneath that is a Imperial cog (a Star Wars thing).

I don't regret any of them.  I waited until I graduated college for the top part of my tattoo.  I always wanted one, but figured I wanted it to be a reward for something huge and monumental.
  • ears pierced twice, belly button pierced, and I have a owl feather tattoo'd on my ribs.

I'm dying to get a small tattoo on my foot, but I promised FI only one LOL.

I had my nose pierced, I thought it was super cute, but when I needed to get a "real" job, had to take it out.

  • I have three piercings in one ear, two in the other. I have five tattoos. Puzzle piece on my foot, ankh on my ankle, cherry blossoms covering the entire side of my thigh, and a nautical star on the back of each shoulder. I love all my tattoos, I just hate the placement of the stars. I was eighteen, went into the shop with my idea and just picked a random place to put them. I wish I had thought that over more.

  • I have 2 holes in each ear and my belly button pierced. I have 3 tattoos. A butterfly and vines on flowers on my lower back, swirly lines with butterflys on my right foot/ankle/calf area and an itty bitty kitty foot print on the inside of my left foot. (for my kitty that passed away) No, I dont regret them at all. I look forward to getting more!

I have both ears pierced with three holes but I only ever wear the first hole. I also had my belly button pierced for years. I took it out when I had to have surgery and just never put it back in.

    I have two tattoos.
A small heart I got last year with my cousins when my aunt died of cancer at age 51. We had always joked with my aunt that after you beat the cancer we would all get tattoos of tear drops with a x through it. She always told everyone no tears. So when she didn't make it we still wanted to get something together so we chose the heart.

I also have  daisy on my ankle. I had always wanted his but was always scared to do it. Finally after 2009 being a crazy year. I had major surgery, Came out of a 5 year relationship, and met fi. I thought I need something to remember this year by. So I took the plunge and did it. To this day I am grateful fi was with me holding my hand.

As you can see both tattoos mean so much to me so there is no way I could regret either.

  • I have one hole in each ear, and had my belly button pierced for years. I took it out 2 years ago after getting annoyed with it.

    I have 3 tattoos.
My first is a blue monarch butterfly on my right shoulder. I have it in memory of my great-grandma. I got it when I was 18 and I don't regret it for a minute. My second tattoo was a spur-of-the-moment one with my best friend at the time. We got matching shooting stars on our left shoulder. 2-3 years later we had a huge falling out and we haven't spoken since. I regret this tattoo, and plan to cover it up eventually so I'm not reminded of her.

My third is in memory of my step-mom. She passed away almost 3 years ago after a 7 year struggle with cancer. :'( It's on my ribs and it says "For those that I love I will sacrifice" It's in Czech. She would have loved it.

  • My ears are pierced twice. I have two tattoos. One is a butterfly on my right shoulder blade, and the other is a sun / flower ( just a weird design) on my foot. I do not regret them, however, the one of my foot is bigger and it not exactly the color I wanted when the tattoo artist did it... So that's the only thing.

  • I have 2 holes in each ear and my left tragus. I've had my belly button pierced for years and I will probably never take it out because I think I look weird without it. I was feeling risky one day when I was 18 & got my nose pierced when my parents were on vacation, but like many others, I had to take it out when It was time to find a real job.

I also have 3 tattoos. All 3 are on the right side of my ribs. First is a cross because it reminds me to keep my faith in God. Underneath that is a sparrow--which sparked the nickname "Captain Jack" for years. I'm not really sure why I got the sparrow, I just thought it looked cool underneath the cross. And underneath the sparrow is the word "volare" which means "to fly" in Italian. It's also a song by Dean Martin. It's one of my favorite songs & gives props to my Italian heritage.

My ears, belly, and tongue are pierced. My tongue ring is glow in the dark (when I bought it, I just thought it was clear), so you don't really notice it during the day. I chew the insides of my cheeks a lot (until they bled), and now I chew gum/my piercing more often to help.

I also have a tattoo on the back of my neck "John 15:13" which stands for, Greater love hath no one than this, than to lay down one's life for one's friends. I got it the day after I was discharged from the Army.

I don't regret anything - BUT the thing about my belly ring... I don't know if I'll ever take it out because it just looks awkward without it, haha (and they make rings for preggo bellies)

  • The only piercings I have are my ears that I got when I was a kid.

I have 3 tattoos.  I have lucky in Kanji on back, strength in kanji on my shoulder blade, and a quatrefoil (my sorority's symbol) on the left side of my ribs.  I want a few more though... they are addicting.  I don't regret any of them since they all have some meaning to my life.

  • Piercings: Got 3 in each ear and my eyebrow (have to take it out for work every day but I like it so much that it is worth the effort)

Tattoos: Just one right now, it is a Maori koru (link) on my left foot. I got it while I was living in New Zealand to commemorate my time there. Eventually I will get a tattoo that says "Love is a Risk" but I'm still designing it (I'm a graphic designer so this will take me forever to pick a font that will permanently be on my body!)

  • 3 holes in each ear and 2 tattoos, both of which I seriously regret. I've had one removed ($60 to put on, nearly $2k to take off) and I plan to get the other one removed soon.
  • Piercings:  2 in each ear but I only wear earrings in the first set.  I also have my bellybutton pierced but I'm thinking of taking that out.  I feel like I'm a little old to have one now that I'm married and whatnot.  I never even noticed it anymore anyway.

    No tattoos for me.

My dad told me when I went off to college never to pierce or tattoo anything you couldn't hide in a job interview and I think that's one of the best pieces of fatherly advice he's ever given!

Is the reason you don't have your ears pierced just because of the pain or do you just not want it?  I'm not judging I'm just genuinely curious :)

<div>Agreed. My neck tattoo is low enough to be covered by most t-shirts, so it's definitely covered if I'm wearing a collared shirt. </div>

My mom doesn't have her ears pierced, and so she just never took me as a kid. FWIW, I don't think my aunt or cousin (mom's side) do either. So, at first it was that. Then, when I was old enough to do it on my own I was afraid of the pain. Which is hilarious because I'm not generally afraid of needles. I've had to have routine bloodwork taken my entire life and barely flinch.

As an adult, I really could care less. There was a time I thought I should get them pierced so I can have nice diamond earrings someday, but even that hasn't persuaded me to get it done.

That being said, if I have daughters, I'll likely take them to get it done as soon as they're old enough. Even though I don't care now, I do sort of still wish my mom would have had it done when I was a baby.

  • Interesting, thanks for sharing Meegles!
  • I have 2 holes in each ear, but typically only fill one set. I have tattoos, one is a red heart on my hip/rear hip that is a red heart that I got with 2 friends I grew up with, the other is a sanddollar on my upper back that says"Mimi and Pap" underneath it. It is for my grandparents and the sanddollar represents spending summers with them in Florida. One of my favorite things to do was go to a beach park called Fort DeSoto and find live sanddollars. I don't regret any of them. I'm not sure if the link will work from my phone, but a link to the sanddollar is below http://m.facebook.com/profile.php?__user=25703268#!/photo.php?fbid=598839743448&id=25703268&set=a.713179316028.2230789.25703268&__user=25703268

  • I have two holes in my ears. I only wear earrings in the first hole usually though. I also have my belly button pierced and still love it, I think I would look weird without it. I have one very small tattoo so low on my hip it is covered in a bathing suit. I do regret it, even though it is not visible I know its there and would love to have it removed one day.

  • I have my ears pierced and my top and bottom belly button pierced. I love my belly rings and have no regrets. I really want a tattoo but I am too chicken.

  • I have 10 piercings and no tatoos - yet!

I have my ears pierced twice on the bottom, twice on the top, and then in the middle of my left ear. I also have my belly button pierced. I, too, feel a little old to still have it done, but I think it looks way too weird to not have it in!

As for tatoos - I have wanted one for a very long time, and almost got one when I turned 18. However, I am glad I didn't because it was designed by my first love who turned out to be not such a great guy and it would have been a daily reminder of him.

In the coming months I will be getting my first one - an anchor on my left foot. It is my sorority's symbol and also a reminder to always stay grounded. I can't wait! I want to get "dreamer" on my wrist as well, but I think it might be a bad idea.. but I realllllly realllly want it. Haha

I agree with this.  It's good advice.

This is part of the reason why I got my tattoos where I did.  Luckily, no one in my field really cares either way about tattoos unless they are huge.

  • I have 3 piercings in each earlobe, one in the cartiledge in my right ear, and an industrial bar in my left ear (which I count as 2). I used to have surface piercings on my clavicle, and I loved those! Sadly, I had to remove them after a drunk, rowdy football fan at a UM game accidently hit me in the clavicle, disturbing my piercings. One of them never healed after that, so I removed both. This is what they looked like:
(I don't have any super good pics, but you can get the idea from this one)

  • Just my ears.

My parents did it when I was a baby and it really pisses me off. I'd probably never have gotten them pierced on my own. They forced me to wear them til like 3rd grade and then I didn't wear them again til a couple of years ago. I'll wear them probably a couple of times a year.

No tats here. Honestly I just can't think of anything that I'd want on my body the rest of my life.

I have the generic ear piercings and 5 tattoos. As odd as this is about to sound, I am afraid of needles and pain and this has prevented me from getting anything else pierced. Weird right? Especially considering I have 5 tattoos.
I have a Chinese symbol that means determination on my inner leg near my ankle, I have live laugh love on my left wrist, I have a heart tattoo on my shoulder, and 2 star tattoos 1 on each side of my lower waist. I really don't regret any of them as they all have some meaning to me.
The only thing I do regret as someone mentioned above is the placement of the heart tattoo, like the PP, I was young and didn't think that one through and you can always see it when I wear summer clothes or dresses. I will have to cover it up for the wedding :(

  • I currently have 8 piercings.  I have both ear lobes pierced twice, along with my rook, tragus and cartilage (all ear piercings).  I also have my belly button pierced...but it is a lot closer to the surface than it used to be so I took it out almost a year ago, it still hasn't closed up.  When I was in college, I got my nipples pierced twice, they rejected both times.  My body doesn't handle metal well.

As for tattoos, I have 3; a butterfly on my back hip region, a tribal on the front of my hip, and a large cross on the low part of my back.  I do not regret any of them...the tribal on my hip is my least favorite but it still means something to me.
Eventually I plan to get something symbolizing my immediate family and hypothetical children...but I have a while before that happens.

I also follow the rule of nothing I can't cover up for a job interview.

  • I have my ears double pierced. I only ever wear earrings in the first hole. The only reason I got the second done is because my mom told me I couldn't do it until I turned 18, so a week after my birthday I did it - goodness I was soooo rebellious :).

I don't have any tattoos but I want one on my left rib that say "leo" in cursive - not because I'm a Leo, but because me and my sisters first initials makes up L.E.O (laura, emily, olivia). I'm just too much of a chicken to get it done, but FI wants a tattoo also so we will probably go together and get it done sometime soon.
