Reception spots - I need help!

Hello everyone it is my first time posting anything.  I have a huge family and I am trying to see if I can actually pull of a wedding with all my little cousins there.  Does anyone know about local venues that have different prices for little ones, under 21 and then adults over 21?  I'm looking around for that and I can't even find the option of at least the under 21 aspect.  I surely don't want to be spending money on acohol that the 20+ kids won't be drinking.   Thanks to everyone with any help!!!!

Hi Kelly :) welcome to the board :) Where are you looking? What is your budget? Do you have and estimated guest count? This info will help us give you recommendations. Most places I visited in the Birmingham/Troy/Rochester area offered this option. Have you asked the venues? They don't usually put this info in their wedding packets or online, but will accommodate you if you ask. Sorry you haven't had luck yet, but we'll try to help you out :)

I've checked only online.  No calls yet.  We are looking at between 150-200 people.  I'm really hoping to keep it around $50 a head (including bar) if possible.  Not really sure if that is do-able or not.  We are actually looking anywhere between Rochester and Ann Arbor.  My family is pretty scattered throughout the SE Mich area so we aren't tied down in that sense.  Thanks so much!!!

Kelly - my venue was out of your price range, but did have different pricing for young children versus under 21-ers versus adults.  I think a lot of places have this, but it won't necessarily show on the websites.  I would definitely recommend calling places you are interested in, to see if they do this.

    Welcome and congratulations!
My reception will be at the Italian American Banquet and Conference Center (it's a mouthful, I know) in Livonia. Their prices range from 35 (plated) -49 (deluxe family style) including their standard bar, but not including tax and tip. After tax and tip the 35 option is still under 50. I will have to check my contract again, but I'm pretty sure kids are 20$. Its a lovely venue with really beautiful windows and the food is great, so might be worth a look!

I agree with the other ladies..once you get a final count of your guests you'll only be charged for the booze for the ones who are 21 and up at most places.  This is true with my venue--Greystone Golf & Banquet Center which is in Romeo (tech. Washington Twp I think). And welcome! :)

I will be having it at the Italian American Banquet Center (2013) and yes the little ones are a different price. If you plan on your reception being in 2012 I know they have Friday prices for Saturday events, or extra perks for having it on a Friday (appitizers and pizza included in pricing). I am doing upgraded bar with premium family style and it will be just under $70.00 per head for Saturday. I HIGHLY recommend the IABC. I worked there for about 5 years and fell in love with it. In my opinion it is one of the nicer Livonia venues that is affordable AND includes standard 6 hour bar.

Check out Beacon Hill or Brentwood Golf Club. They do 21+/21- pricing and I think ours is about $60/person, but we are doing the upgraded package and bar option.

Thank you everyone for all the input.  It is very helpful!  I'm happy to hear I'm not crazy for thinking the pricing should be different for different ages.  However, I feel like there are so many little things to decide on for a venue.  I feel like it is going to be impossible to narrow it down.  I'm hoping I'm not the only bride that feels this way.  I'm also starting to realize that $50 a head for food and bar might be wishful thinking.
