Advise on making belly bands

I want to make belly bands for my pocketfold invitations, but I'm having trouble.  My plan was to use a wide, sheer, wire edged ribbon.  Where the ends of the ribbon overlap, they will be sandwiched between two pieces of cardstock, and on top will be my monogram.  But, I can't find any kind of glue that will hold them together and not wrinkle the paper.  Any advise?  The DIY board recommended glue dots, but I'm skeptical that will work any better.

Glue dots rock.  We seriously used them for everything...from our Jones Sodas (to hold the labels) to our invitations (to hold them closed).

Dots are actually really good. I used dots to assembly to my invites and they held up really well. You can also try using Elmers glue stick. That also worked for me. Eventhough I didn't have pocket folds I was able to use dots and Elmer glue to attach the ribbon on my invites

I third the glue dots! Be sure to use your Michael's coupons! I swear I have used over 1000 glue dots! LOL

I used glue dots to glue ribbon and cardstock together- it worked great! (but not the cheap wally world brand! Stay away from that!)

I used double sided tape & it worked beautifully. I did it exactly as you described.

I'm using glue dots too - as long as you don't use the removable kind, they stick REALLY well.  so well that you have to be careful when you put everything together.  I completely destroyed one of my belly bands trying to get the pieces of cardstock apart when they were off center.  oops.

I'll be using Terrifically Tacky double sided tape. The stuff is crazy sticky. You can get it at Michaels.

I used double-sided tape from Hobby Lobby:

I used it for my bellybands & it worked beautifully. I wanted to make sure they didn't pop open, so used it on all four sides of the monogram paper closure.

It is $9.99 for 81 feet....But it is on sale this week for 50% off. Woot! (Just don't come to the Port Huron Hobby Lobby, I cleaned them out! hehe)

I shopped around & it seemed to be the best price for how much you get. I'd definitely recommend it
