Doubletree Suites - Fort Shelby/Downtown Detroit

We are looking for a ceremony and reception location in Detroit, preferably in a hotel or near a hotel.  I've received information on the Doubletree Suites downtown, and it looks like a viable option.  I live out of state now, and have not been able to go yet for an in person visit.

Has anyone had their wedding or been to a wedding there?  Any info you can give or thoughts on whether it would be a good place?  We are looking for a traditional dinner reception for approx 100-125 people.  Thanks!

I looked there for my wedding on 9-10-11. I would check it out. It is reasonably price and the place for your reception is beautiful-ballroom like. You will have a whole floor for your wedding. All the rooms are suite-like, huge for a good price. The  only bad thing is parking. I believe they put cars outside. This place would be my choice but someone beat us to it and my mom wanted me to have the reception in the burbs cause it was closer to my side of the family

Check out the Book Cadillac as well- I don't know what their pricing is like, but I am pretty sure there is another Knottie having her reception there (although I can't think of her name at the moment). It is a beautiful, historic hotel that has been completely renovated. We set up our room block there, and they were great to work with.

we looked at the fort shelby because the online photos looked great...however, in person it was just so-so.  definitely check out the book cadillac or the atheneum if you insist on a hotel wedding!

    good luck
