Grooms vest/tie color matching the groomsmen? advice please

Has anyone seen a wedding where the groom matches the groomsmens vest/tie color? My fi really likes the champagne color I picked out for the groomsmen and would like to wear it too. I think he should wear ivory. What can we do to make the groom stand out a little more if he does wear the same color? Is anyones fi wearing the same color as the groomsmen? If anyone has pictures I'd like to see them. :)

Thanks!

What color are your bridesmaids wearing?  I would suggest having the groomsmen wear that color vest and having your FI stick with champagne/ivory.

<div>This is what we did.  The guys all wore silver and my DH wore white.  He stood out just enough that way.  He also had a different color boutonniere also.</div>

Right now fi is wearing the same as everyone else, his bout will be different.  He likes the color I picked and doesn't really care that he looks like everyone else.  I really like the color too so I don't want him to wear a different color.

Ditto Jholbel. The groomsmen should match what the bridesmaids are wearing. And the groom should wear either white or ivory which should match your dress. I like when the groom wears a different color. People will know he's the groom and he matches you :)

My DH wore the same as the groomsmen and just wore a different bout. Wasn't a big deal. There weren't vests the same color as the girls' dresses, and we didn't like anything else, so they just did the same. The only real benefit I see is for people who don't know the groom being able to figure out which one he is. But I'm sure they can figure that out pretty easily. :)

I guess it's to each their own, but for us...groomsman will have plum vests/ties, fathers will have black, and FI will have ivory.

What about having the groom wear the same vest and maybe a different tie and pocket square? All of our GM and FI will have the same bout so we are differentiating FI with a different tux (3 button vs 2) and then the different pocket square (ivory vs champagne). GL!

For our wedding, all of the guys wore black & white.  White shirt, black tux/vest/bowtie.  The way the groom and BM were recognized were by different bouts.  Groom wore ivory rose w/ green hydrangea.  BM wore peach rose w/ green hydrangea.  GMs wore green hydrangea.  Ushers wore white hydrangea.  Dads & Grandpas wore ivory gebera daisies.

Not the best pic, but it gives you an idea.  And yes, our ushers were twins.

For my wedding, the gm wore teal vests (that matched the girls' dresses) and DH wore a black vest/tie.  The tux place really tried to push a white vest, but that just wasn't him.

Personally, I think that you should let  him wear whatever he wants, so if he chooses the same as the gm, just go with it.  I mean, really, is there anyone who won't be able to pick him out as the groom?  He'll be the one who was up there marrying  you during the ceremony, you know?  If it's really a big deall, maybe a different bout or pocket square like PPs have suggested.

THIS!  Let him wear whatever he wants. People will know he's the groom regardless of his vest color.

There is no rules about what color anyone (groom, gm, parents, whoever) should wear. The groomsmen do not HAVE to match the bridesmaids, and the groom can match the groomsmen. Please don't force him to wear ivory because its what he 'should' do.

ETA- to answer your initial question yes I have seen weddings where the groom and groomsmen all matched and everyone figured out the groom was the guy kissing the bride. IMO you don't need to have him 'stand out' because he already will - but you could have his boutinere be bigger/different or a different pocket square.
