How soon should I...

send out the shower invites? I'm picking them up today from my wedding coordinator. I'm giving them to my mom to stamp and seal and she'll be the one to actually put the invites in the mail, but I'm curious to know how far out we should be sending them. Our RSVP date is May 23 and the shower is June 6. I was thinking maybe next week and that way it gives people a full month to RSVP. But I still would like your thoughts!

IMO Shower invitations only need a few weeks. My aunt sent mine out about 3 weeks before the rsvp date. My sorority sisters family sent hers out with the same amount of time. I don't understand why people send invitations out so early. The longer I have it, the more likely I am to forget about it.

I totally agree with you. We got an invite for a June wedding in March...in MARCH! We have a wedding before that in May and hadn't even gotten that invite yet. It's silly to me. I thought we'd only need a few weeks too. Maybe we'll just wait till the beginning of May.

I think a month should be fine.  With it being summer it might be better to get them early so they don't make other plans.  I missed FSIL because I didn't know when it was till the invite came and I had already made vacation plans.

The only vacation that I would be worried about is Memorial weekend which is kind of why I wanted to get the invites out a little sooner. Memorial weekend is the weekend before the shower, but I think most people take their vacations the weekend prior (May 28-31). I could be wrong though.

My shower is June 5 and my MOH wants to send the invites out this week!  She actually wanted to send them out on Monday, but they weren't here yet.  I was trying to talk her into waiting a little while longer because I wanted more time to finalize my registry, but I think I'm going to lose that battle. :(

If you send them out next week, that should be PLENTY of time for them to respond.  It's not too early that people will forget and it's not so last minute that people don't have time to get a present.  My cousins shower on May 23rd and I haven't gotten an invite to that yet.  That is pushing it a little bit!
