make-up

So I have a few questions...

How much are you spending for hair and make-up? Did you have a trial and does that price include the trial? Did you like your trial or had to switch make-up artists because of it?

I had my trial 2 weeks ago, and everyday the more unsatisfied I get it about it. Like my friend said, I could do a better job doing it myself. Cheap for an airbrush ($100 including trial). The airbrush was great although I think I could get a bit more coverage. But the make-up itself was not that amazing, being done by a pro, I expected it to be better than if I would do it. I am just torn spending so much money to get another trial and possibly pay more for a more expensive alternative.

Did you use airbrush or regular make-up? Did the regular make-up last long? I am going to have a pretty long day, with make-up done by 11:30 and with reception over around 9 or 10. I currently have a MAC make-up artist as an alternative but will have to schedule a trial. Any opinions/suggestions?

I've had my make-up done for weddings and I can assure you its definitely obvious that I had it done. I didn't do airbrush...I did regular make-up application and it was gorgeous all day and night :-) I don't know where you are getting married but in Birmingham there is Red the Salon for hair and right below it is Elizabeths Head to Toe which does make-up. Its nice because its one stop for both. I've had my hair and make-up done at these places and have been very satisfied. I know Todd's room is also in Birmingham and I've seen there work which is good too. They do make-up application as well. I'm paying $70 for my make-up which doesn't include a trial that I'm aware of but I'm splurging for this because its something thats important to me. If you are really not happy with the results you already had, I would def look elsewhere because you don't want to feel less than absolutely jaw dropping on your wedding day. Good luck!!!

Hi there! I had my makeup and hair done at the salon that I normally go to. They did a fabulous job! I also did a trial at a place that specializes in bridal hair and makeup, but my normal salon did a MUCH better job.

The salon I went to is called Salon 550. They are located in Plymouth, so I'm not sure if it's near the area you're looking for. The makeup was $35 and the hair was $55. I did not get airbrush makeup done, but my makeup lasted beautifull all night long (til 3am - no joke!). I never looked better in my life. My bridesmaids and my mom all got their hair and makeup done there and they loved it so much that they all want to go there on a regular basis now.

I had three hair trials and two make-up trials.  It cost an arm and a leg but I felt that I had no choice.  I was not satisfied with the trials and felt that I had to keep working on it until I found stylists I was confident in – especially in regards to my hair.  I did not want to have that prom issue where you have your hair done and then hop in the shower and re-do it yourself.

I ended up using airbrush make-up.  It lasted the night for me.  I did ask for extra coverage based on my trial and I think it turned out great.  I had my make-up done around noon and our reception ended at midnight.  And then we continued on until 2:00 and I still had to wash my make-up off after all of those hours.

I ended up using two stylists at Bocci Salon in Sterling Heights.  They were a more expensive alternative but they traveled and I was confident in them.  I know it was a huge splurge between the trials and then their actual service but I absolutely wanted to look my best that night.

    Good Luck!
