I'm disgusted by the human race...

Yesterday morning I heard on the news that a 25-year old from West Bloomfield was involved in a hit-and-run. They didn't release the victims name and I was hoping I didn't know him.

Last night my mom texted me that it was the brother of someone I grew up with. Her and I don't talk anymore, but her family was always nice. Her brother was my brother's age and so that kinda freaked me out.

He was walking in the bicycle lane in Northville with some friends and a dark SUV hit him and drove off. The injuries he sustained were fatal.

Now, I'm not looking for "I'm so sorry, Milsey!" because I wasn't close with him at all. I am just posting to vent how disgusted I am that someone can just do that. Just drive off. It's very disheartening.

Ugh that's awful.  I don't understand it either, how you could do something so horrific and not check to make sure they were ok or do anything.

I just hope they find the person and they get punished to the full extent of the law.

I agree! So disgusting! A guy I grew up with was killed 2 years ago in a hit-and-run. He was on a motorcycle, and a car just turned into him. He died instantly, and the car that hit him never even stopped (and they had to have known they just hit someone). It's just so, so sad that people do that. How can they live with themselves? Ugh.

I hate how people's fear gets in the way of doing the right thing.

This happened to my tuba/euphonium professor a couple of years ago. He was riding his bike, got hit and was just left there. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it could have been but he was all sorts of broken and road rashed up and was stuck in bed for months. A lot went wrong wtih his arm/hand which was so bad because he's a professional musician..that's how he makes a living! Just so disgusting how you can destroy someone's life and then just literally leave them on the side of the road..

I'm sorry that this happened :(

I totally understand your sentiment. And yes, I am sorry this terrible thing happened to someone you knew.

That makes me sick.  I can not believe someone could actually do that, then just run.  I hope he gets what he deserves.

This summer a teenager on a bike pulled out right infront of an SUV in the middle of a busy road.  We were directly behind the SUV, so we were the ones that called 911, made sure the kid was put safely in the ambulance and stood by as he had a seizure and suffered severe head wounds.  It wasn't even our fault and I was hit SO hard emotionally just knowing what happened...and he survived.  I am pretty sure some people don't even have souls.

Something very similar happened to my FSIL's boyfriend's brother while he was riding his bike.

I hope the person is found and charged to the full capability that they can get.

I would like to know what is going through someones head the second they decide to take off. Its just such an inhumane thing to do.

One of my close friends was drunk driving a few years back and hit someone. He dragged the person under his car for nearly a half mile. Then he took off. When I heard the news, I couldn't believe it. My friend ended up turning himself in the next day, and is in prison for up to 10 years (the victim survived, THANKFULLY). Its just hard to believe that my friend would do that, he was normally such a level headed person. Such a GOOD person. But that split second decision is something he will have to regret and live with for the rest of his life.
