Who did trial of Hair/Make-up?

I'm just starting to look into hair and make-up. I'm finding that the trials are running $40 and up. I was wondering who did trials and who didn't and the pros/cons of each.

I did one make up trial ($80 for myself and my mom) and one hair trial ($35).  I am going to do anothe rhair trial because I decided to use extensions and I want to make sure my stylist has an opportunity to practice with them.  I probably won't be charged for that one because she is a family friend.

I'm planning on doing both a make up and hair trial.  The make up trial I'm doing the day of a wedding I'm in and the hair trial I'm doing before we leave for my bachelorette party.

I'm doing a trial of hair and make up because I'm using extensions (see larzhope's comment) and because I'm planning on having airbrush makeup, but have never had that kind of makeup done before.

It can be expensive (mine are $65 and $85, respectively), but I think it's worth it. You're going to have those wedding pictures for the rest of your life...

Think about booking the trials on a day where you can put the hair/makeup to good use - before your bridal shower, bachelorette party, night out, etc.

I did my hair and makeup trial on the day of my shower. It worked out well because I liked having a trial run of what the day of the wedding would be like time wise. Plus, if you really don't like something, it's easier to fix it beforehand rather than stress out the day of.

I did both (because my mom did my makeup, so that part was free), but I would ABSOLUTELY recommend doing it, especially if it is only $40.  Forty dollars is not much in the scheme of things, and is a small price for your sanity.  I would not be able to relax on wedding day while hair/makeup was being done if I had no idea how it would turn out.  Getting it done ahead of time gives you time to make sure you'll like what you get.

Thanks ladies. I have decided to do the trials. Your all right, its just less stress knowing what the end result will be.

I got a hair and makeup trial done and didn't like what the stylist did at all! So now I have to try someone else and get another one because I don't want to take any chances after how my first trial went.

I would recommend both.  I almost didn't want to have one with my makeup but I'm glad I did.  I didn't care for my makeup at the trial so we had time to mess around with it and figure out what I liked.    It can get expensive but you only have so much time the day of and if you don't like it there's not a lot of room for making changes.
