Favors

Has then been asked before?

What is everyone doing for the guest favors?  I wanna do something off beat thats not killer on the bank. So far they get a backstage pass lanyard with their table number in it.

That sounds like a unique idea.  I am having troubles myself trying to think of a good favor.  I think the consensus here is that guests usually like the edible favors the best (cookies, truffles, candy, etc)

What is your theme? How many guests?

I'm sure that the other brides here will be able to help you with a unique and sensible favor.

Edible favors are likely the best route. Though it's not unique, we're doing truffles as our favors. Candy buffets have become very popular, too.

Make sure you also check with your venue to see if they allow outside food to come in - some don't.

Ditto PP about edible favors.  The only favors I end up using/not throwing away immediately are edible ones.  While non-edible favors are sometimes cute, I don't have any use for a small picture frame, coozie with someone's name on it, etc.

We did little glass jars with Jelly Belly's in them in our wedding color.  We sealed the jar with wax in another wedding color and stamped our new last name into the wax on top.  We attached the escort cards to the bottles.  Turned out pretty cute IMO.  We also had Shutterbooth their so they got their little photo strips.  Let me see if I can remember how to post a picture.

We are doing little jars with green M&Ms in it (inspiration pic in bio).

    300 jars = $233.18
    http://www.nicepricefavors.com/p-6701ST.htm?utm_source=orderStatusEmails&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=orderStatusEmails

    50 lbs of green generic M&Ms from Meijer = $149.50 ($2.99/lb)

    Total = $382.68
    Price per favor = $1.28

Oh, we are also doing a photobooth.  I recommend either edible favors or a photobooth -- don't waste your money on anything else.

LOVE your lanyards - it sounds like you'll have some great personal details.

I agree that edible is the way to go!  We had chocolate covered pretzels using this as our inspiration...http://www.stylemepretty.com/2009/03/26/diy-project-chocolate-covered-pretzels/

They were a big hit!  My Mom made them all and they were so good that my family is trying to convince her to make more for Christmas, birthdays, etc.

We also had a photobooth and that was an even bigger hit.  And while I know photobooths are super popular on the board, most of our guests had never seen one at a wedding before - our guests had a blast.

Maybe you could consider cookies or chocolates in a unique shape to keep your theme going.

    Good luck!

Higgy--for pics you don't put the code in anymore.  Just click the tree icon on the bottom of the reply box and upload the pic from your computer... like how you would attach a file to an e-mail.

I did the same thing as Kristin - chocolate dipped pretzel rods.  They actually weren't that difficult and we made them the weekend before the wedding and they still tasted great.  In fact, they were a HUGE hit!  There was not one left over at the end of the night, including ours...people scooped up all the left overs!

I did a rough calculation, and decided they were about $0.36 each.  Got the pretzels in big bins at Gordon Foods, used 40% off coupons to get the bags of meltable chocolate at Michaels & JoAnns as well as the little pretzel bags.  Then I just printed a simple thank you message on a card stock tag that I folded over the top and stapled them shut.

I am having a cookie bar.  I have asked about eight of my family members (aunts, cousins, etc) to make 4-5 dozen of a favorite or family recipe.  Then for a favor, we will give them a family cookie cookbook.  I will have boxes on the table, so they can take the cookies home if they don't want to eat them at  the reception.
I was having difficulty thinking of a favor because most of the weddings I have been to, the favor gets thrown away or never used.  I thought maybe people will use these.
