They were talking about Chelsea Clinton's upcoming wedding on Good Morning America, and if nothing else, it made me feel a little better about mine!  

It's supposedly happening July 31 (the weekend after mine!).

First of all, they decided to only invite people who knew her personally, so they whittled down the original guest list to a meager 400-500 people (I want to know how big the original list was!).  

Second, for security purposes, they are trying to keep the location a secret.  They told guests it will be somewhere within a 2 hour drive of New York City.  But the week of the wedding, the wedding planner is going to call everyone and tell them exactly where the need to go.  Crazy!  Plus I think it's unlikely to work out that it'll truly be a secret.  For enough money, somebody's gonna spill the beans.

While I'm sure she's got an unlimited budget and is going to have an amazing wedding, I do NOT envy planning that thing!!!

I could not imagine inviting 400+ people and have that be the absolute fewest people they could invite.

I would elope, I would not be able to handle that many people.

Ditto, I would not be able to go through with such a huge wedding!  Especially the fact that odds are people WILL find out about the location and then it would be even more insane.  Nope, eloping would be my route too.

It's probably a little different for her, since she's been in the public eye since she was like 12.  Also, I bet she is not planning that much of it personally. I'm sure her wedding planner is tearing her hair out though, since she will have to call all the guests personally and tell them where to go.

That being said, my 170 person wedding is looking much nicer when I think about all the work that is going into this one! I hope Bill was able to lose the 15 lbs she asked him to drop!

Ditto Kelki - I have a feeling she's got a staff of people planning this shindig.

But on a slighly related note, I definitely do not envy the children of famous people, their lives end up very upside down because of choices their parents made and it stinks. At least she seems to have turned out more normal than a lot do.
