Losing weight without even trying?

I've lost about 5 pounds in the last week without trying. I've lost a total of 12 lbs in the last 5 months which isn't much, but is this normal during the wedding process? I haven't been trying at all to lose weight and haven't been working out. I think it might be stress. I'm not very big either... I went from 118 to now 106. I'm just hoping that it's stress related and not something seriously wrong with me. I also have been getting really sick after eating and sometimes I feel nauseous and start to shake. I am 100% certain that I am not pregnant. I've been attributing it to the fact that I'm planning a wedding and just entered my thirties.Should I wait until after the wedding and see if my weight goes back up or should I see a doctor right away.

  • If I lost 5 pounds in a week I would be seeing a doctor..especially if I already weighed so little.

  • Definately go see a doctor. I had a friend that was going through the same symptoms after having 2 kids. It turns out she is allergic to gluten.

  • Definitely go see a doctor to make sure everything is ok beyond stress levels.  Also, try and talk to your doctor about a way to help manage your stress levels and make sure you are getting enough sleep.

  • When is your wedding? I'm a big eater and when I heard people lost weight/lost their appetite from wedding stress I never thought it'd happen to me. I have anxiety and get stressed out but it never affected my eating - EXCEPT when I was planning my wedding. The major weight drop was probably in the last month before the wedding.

  • I'm a little over a month away from my wedding.
  • As a Mom, I'd say go to the doctor. When you weigh so little, that's a lot of weight without trying, especially if you haven't changed the amount of food you take in. The shaking and nausea and weight loss could be something serious, and the last thing I'd want (if I were you, or your Mom counseling you) would be to ignore it and then closer to the wedding REALLY have a problem......or worse, be on your honeymoon far from home and incur expenses you shouldn't have to.

It may be nerves. It may be acid reflux. It may be your thyroid. It can be a lot of things. Go to the doc, describe your symptoms, and have them do blood work. I'm sure you'll feel better when they tell you it's nothing, but at least you will know.

    Good luck. Keep us posted.
