Bridal shower locations downriver?

Hey ladies! ..small vent followed by question..feel free to skip to 3rd paragraph for the real question! Well...it seems my MOH is going to continue to be too busy to work on the things she needs to be doing, like planning my shower with my FMIL. Now she (FMIL) is so stressed and says no one has given her any information, she said she is done and will just give us a gift.

Sooo....looks like I will be planning most of my own shower. I got on my MOH last night about it and sent her details she needed. So far, nothing she said she would do today is done.

SO What are some good places Downriver to have a birdal shower? Nothing too pricy though. Guest list will be between 40-50 people. I am looking into the Allen Park Civic Center and maybe some smal halls in the area...any ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

    1) You should not be planning your own shower. Are you only having one shower or 2? If you are only having one, is there any way someone on your side of the family can get involved?

    2) If your FMIL needs help, is there someone she can ask? Like maybe a sister of hers or mother or close friend...anyone except for you? What about your other BM? Can they help out? It doesn't have to be your MOH and your MOH is not even required to plan the shower.

    3) Does anyone you know live in a subdivison where there is a clubhouse? Most apartment complexes and condo associations have clubhouses and they are very nice and reasonably priced to rent. HTH.

Ditto everything Corrine said..I'm sorry that your FMIL is stressed and feels she's getting no help. But a shower is meant for the Bride to be the guest of honor, not the planner. This is one thing you don't have to be involved in.

I'm not familiar with the downriver area, but we're doing what Corrine suggested. My Mom is throwing the shower at the clubhouse where she lives and all she had to do was put down a security deposit.

My mom is having mine at Dearborn Hills Golf Course....it's pretty decently priced and the banquet manager there is super helpful. There is also Roma Banquets in Garden City. I think they are around 10 dollars a person.I've been to a few showers there. I've also been to one at DeLuca's resturant in Garden City. I think they are in the 10-12 range.  I think my mom had called the Grecian Center and they were somewhere around that 10-12 a person price. I'm not sure about the price for Crystal Gardens, but they have a few different sites downriver and I know some are less expensive than others. It would be worth a call. They all have websites to google. Hope that helps:)

Thanks ladies! The clubhouse idea is perfect, my FMIL has a super nice one at her complex, so she looked into it. My only concern with it is parking! But I will try a few other places suggested as welll.

As for my MOH I think she finally got on board...again..so lets hope it lasts this time!

    thanks again.

We are having ours at Portofino's in Wyandotte. It has a beautiful little rooms that is all windows and overlooks the river. I think the cheapest menu option is about $13 per person.

There's also Orlando's in Riverview, as is Arnaldo's.  Lakes of Taylor and Taylor Meadows Golf Courses have pretty banquet areas too!

Another bride from the downriver area!  YAY there aren't too many of us!   :)

I'm having one of my showers at Portofino in Wyandotte as well. Very reasonable and a wonderful location. Other options are:

    Baldo's restaurant (Brownstown/Woodhaven)
    Sportsman's Den restaurant (Riverview)
The Hotel Grill (Trenton Grand Hotel, Trenton)
    Sibley Gardens (Riverview)
    Flat Rock Community Center

Also, the clubhouse idea is fabulous. The complex where I used to live had a gorgeous clubhouse they would rent out. Parking was tight right in front but there were lots of other areas in the complex to park and it wasn't a far walk. Also check out local VFW and KofC halls.
