bands

i have hit a serious wall with the band...

the ones i really like are already booked. and then i don't want a band that is boring, only plays motown, and isn't really that great.

i recently saw the dan rafferty band and was wondering if anyone has used them. i was very interested in what they had to offer(mainly because they didn't play a ton of the oldies, but a mixture of everything).

just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a great band that will please both me and the rents.

What bands have you contacted already? We are using Rare Blend. I had started looking into them based on a few great knottie reviews. Saw them in person and knew it was the band for us. Mary, the lead singer and business rep, is sooo helpful and organized! The band was pretty reasonably priced, too, compared to other bands we had looked at that offered the same amount of pieces or even less. One very popular band management group, that will remain nameless here, took over two and a half weeks to call me back and when they did, were three times the cost of what we are paying for RB.

rareblendband.com  and tell them Jessica says hi! :)

I so highly recommend the G Daddy's - they played our wedding and were amazing.  Everyone was dancing all night (even the old people), and we got compliments on the band for months afterwards.   http://www.gdaddys.com/

Good luck!  Let me know if you have questions, and tell them Katie and Frank sent you :)

My husband and I actually had the Dan Rafferty Band perform at our wedding last spring.  They were amazing and we received a ton of compliments from our guests about the band.  Keep in mind that my parents, especially my dad, only listen to oldies and were really happy with the band.  In fact, one of their friends, whose daughter is getting married this year, asked us to pass along the DRB information to them because they were so impressed (they also primarily listen to oldies).

If you have an opportunity I would check them out yourself.  They did a great job - they really wanted to listen to what kind of music we wanted at our reception and they delivered not only what we asked for but sounded great and brought a ton of enthusiasm!

    Hi,

I was recently married in October and used the Dan Rafferty band for my wedding. I've been to a lot of weddings and I have never seen so many people on the dance floor EVER. We saw them at a casino in Detroit and loved them because they could play the new stuff and the stuff my parents loved. Because we had already booked a Jazz Trio from the youth DSO they even played jazz during our meal, which was really classy and relaxing. I can't say enough nice things about them, because they MADE our wedding. A good band will set the theme and recognize the type of music people want to dance to. My dance with my husband was Let it Be Me in the style of Ray LaMontaigne, and it was beautiful. My dance with my father was an oldie "The way you look tonight." Early on in the evening after all the wedding party dances were over they started with some of the classics and by the end of the evening they were doing the cuban shuffle and newer music after most of the older guests had headed off to bed. Even my 90 year old aunt was on the dance floor. If you'd like I can send you some pictures from the reception, and I have video of the band that my Fiancee and I plan on editing and putting on DVD. Even if you don't go with the Dan Rafferty band be prepared for a lot of leg work. I would really go see the band myself. I even had some really negative experiences when we were auditioning bands in the area. Like driving 45 minutes only to show up at a private party where their manager told us we could see them play, and not even being allowed in the venue.

Hi!  I just used DRB at my New Years Eve wedding 3 weeks ago and absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED them!  I have had nothing but compliments from everyone on how amazing they were and how they kept the entire crowd happy all night.  My parents are pretty conservative when it comes to music and they have been raving about how I did such a great job finding the perfect band.  If you have any specific questions about them or how they do things feel free to send me a message, but I honestly cannot understand how anyone could hate them.  They catered to our every wish and will play or not play whatever you and your family desires!  Good Luck with the band hunt and seriously rethink the DRB!

I am with the women that made wonderful posts about the Dan Rafferty Band.  We had them for our wedding back in September and they were AMAZING!  My husband and I searched high and low for a wedding band.  My parents went with us to all the "gigs" to search for a band and after they saw the DRB they were sold.
Before the event we met with them and went over our music requests.  They kept all of our guests out on the dance floor ALL NIGHT!  My 6 year old cousin all the way up to my 80 year old grandparents were having a blast.  They played the best music from every decade.  Our guests still rave about how amazing they were.
In fact my sister in law loved them so much she booked them for her upcoming wedding.  I can't wait to hear them again!!
I would for sure give the Dan Rafferty Band another listen and reconsider.  You won't be dissapointed!

    Hi there!
I am really interested in the Dan Rafferty Band for my wedding in December. I have not called them yet, but I was wondering how you liked them for the price? Are they rediculously expensive? What is their price range? I will give them a call but wanted to hear how someone else felt about the cost. Do you have any tips?

    Thanks!!
