BM dresses.. need help

I am trying to decide on BM dresses and my bridesmaid and I are going shopping this weekend. I STILL cannot decide if I want all the girls to pick their own from a selection, or have the same dress. I am mixed on both, leaning towards eveyone chooseing their own... but wonder if that will be to stressful..? My girls have different body types, and i dont want to make anyone uncomfortable...

girl #1- will be about 5 months post prenancy (bobbylicious..) shes about 5'4" and will prob be about 135-140
girl #2- 5'4" 125-130
girl #3- 5'6" about 125-130
girl #4- 5'1" about 115
girl #6- 5'7" about 160

Thoughts?!?

I would tell them what color and what fabric, but let them pick their own style. I don't see this being more stressful than trying to please everyone with one style (THAT would be stressful!) And they will all feel good in their dresses!

I asked my girls what they would prefer and they all said choosing their own dresses would be much less stressful.

Give them a few guidelines and turn them loose Smile

All my BMs are different body types and have a wide range in style.  To save the headache I'm letting them pick their dress and just telling them which color, length, and material to get.

I would let them choose their own within parameters that you set.  If I were you, I'd probably pick the designer, color, and fabric type (and maybe length?).  So, you could do any long, navy dress from David's Bridal.  Or, any Jim Hjelm dress in pewter taffeta, etc.  You get it!

Not sure what your colors are, but I have a similar situation: 2 BM are over 50 (as am I), 2 are teens, all 4 have different height/weights/body types.

Our colors are black & white/cream, told them all to find a black dress they like. Our wedding is the end of this month, they all chose short dresses by different manufacturers. One was Maggy London, one Jessica Howard, both strapless. One is a black halter, the other black sheer. They really appreciated this, and to be honest, I'm not overly concerned with everything matching.

I told all my girls to order an infinity dress. Originally I was going ot make them all but have since decided I just don't want to. The length and color will be the same but they can style it how ever they want and after the wedding the dresses can be cut to the length they desire for everyday wear. Easy peasy everyone's happy.
I chose this idea because like you my bridal party is a range of sizes and body types from a size 4 (im still jealous of my sister) to a size 24, and on top of that their skin tones vary EXTREAMLY so picking a color was very hard, but they did it. I let them pick it mostly because I really just don't care. As long as they are comfortable and happy.
The way I see it is since I don't have to wear it for nearly 8 hours I don't really care.

I was torn as well, as my BMS range in size. So what I ended up deciding was to take them shopping and have them pick some dresses they like and try them on. If they all like the same dress, awesome! If they can't agree or if one is uncomfortable in a certain style the others liked, then they can pick their own.

What ended up happening was all 3 fell in love with a tea length dress at DB, so they are all getting the same, but I would have been open to them choosing their own. I think a good way to go about it is just to keep an open mind and see what happens!

My issue was color. I didn't like the colors available at David's for dresses where they can choose separates. To avoid alot of opinions, I took my Maid of Honor out multiple times and we found one that would work on all body types, definitly can be worn again and was inexpensive (just cheaper than the David's separates). Luckily when presented to my ladies, they all liked the dress! Dessy 6595

I wanted my girls to pick their own dresses, but they all said it was too stressful because of the unlimited choices out there! Lol - and here I was thinking I was being nice :) So, I took my two sisters (MOHs) to a shop and they picked what they liked and everyone went with that dress.
