Fire in Wyandotte=ruined bridal gowns

Hey ladies, I haven't been on here much due to absolute chaos trying to figure out when we are getting married. But, I saw this morning that LTB's in Wyandotte was destroyed in a fire.

Along with that building, Bella Donnas in Wyandotte had their bridal gowns ruined. =/ I'm not sure how many of you have your dresses there, but I would recommend calling them immediately and making sure everything is okay or what they will do to replace them.

Not all of them go ruined I believe. I assume they have them all in packaging (which will protect it mainly). Bella Donna's is set to open in a few days. The buildings have double walls, so the main damage was smoke, but again, the packaging should help.
The actual fire never got to Bella Donna's.

My Dress is there!  My wedding is 10/20/12.  I called Bella Donna's today and I was told that they are working diligently to contact all of their clients with a status in order of "wear date".  I feel terrible for those girls whose wedding is this month!

I have enough time to go and get a new dress so that's what I'm going to do, rather than wear a dress that has smoke damage.  Hopefully I will be able to get my money back from Bella Donna's at some point when they have all this straightened out.

Their customer service has always been extraordinary which is the reason I bought my dress from them so I have no doubt that they will do everything they can to make this situation right for all of their brides.
  • I am planning on getting my dress from there! My friends dress was ruined in the fire but they are doing everything they can to 2-day her another one. I got my prom dress from them years ago, its a wonderful shop and I hope they pull through and make it through all of this so that I can get  my dress from them.

  • They said on the news that almost every dress will be able to be restored of the smoke damage. Sorry to anyone this is affecting, it has to be stressful!

Also klyn, good to see you around! hope everything is going ok and we miss you over on June 2013 too :(

  • My dress is there as well. I went over there today, and you couldn't go in, but the smoke smell coming out the door was overwhelming,  and the employees I saw were wearing masks.

I am leery of them "restoring" my dress, or "cleaning it". I also don't want a dress that has smoke damage. I know from experience how difficult it is to get the smoke smell out, if you can at all, and with the beading and the delicate material of the dress, I don't know how it could be done without professional, extensive cleaning, and I would rather just have another dress.

They were storing my shoes and other accessories I purchased there with my dress as well, so I am assuming they are ruined as well. We had another fire a few years ago, next to a clothing store, and they could not even donate the clothes, because the smoke damage was so intensive, and it also was in a building next door. The fire never got in that building either, but they had to close for a few months to clean the store out of the smell in the walls and the floors.

My wedding is far enough off, that I can wait a little bit to find out what needs to be done. I know one girl whose wedding is in a few weeks and her dress is there. I hope they can work this out for her. It certainly wasn't their fault, and it will be a good source of how their customer service responds to this matter.
