Registry scanning is a weird thing. I did it and we got 90% of what was on there but then we didn't get some things (that were on our registry and bought or that weren't on the registry but bought)

So it's still gonna be a surprise!

I think if someone scans your registry it counts every thing they buy as being on your registry and adds it.  It might be for the purpose of returning items.

I think there was a post on this somewhere, not sure if it was on this board or another. But, this may be a personal item they purchased in addition to your registry items? I've heard of those showing up on the registry, but you never know I guess.

The same thing happened with our registry. It had some coasters and 2 placemats that we did not register for on it?!!?  I was so confused when I saw it. My mom said it might just be things that someone bought for themselves while shopping for us.  HTH

It could be that they purchased other items for themselves while shopping for you and it got added to the registry. OR they could've been shopping and thought "I bet Erichunnie would love these towels".

I had two mix ups happen where people thought they were getting me the item I asked for, but had actually picked up something very similar instead.  For example, I registered for the 4 cup Cuisinart food processor, but BB&B didn't have it in stock, so they bought me the 3 cup instead.  Thinking they were buying me the correct one, they scanned my registry when they bought it.  It showed up on my registry exactly as you described - requested 0, received 1.  I don't understand why a flag doesn't pop up when they're at the checkout that they're not buying the correct thing!  Good news is, you should be able to return it hassle free since it's on your registry.

The same thing happened to me on my Target registry. We registered for a set of towels in one color, and got the same ones in a different color in addition to the ones that we actually registered for. They showed up on the registry as Wants 0 Got 4. I have no idea how it happened, but they are really nice towels so I don't mind an extra set! I just hope that it doesn't happen again.
