Rachael, you're up!  You're this week's knottie of the week!  Yay!!!! Happy Valentine's day everyone :)

    Name/FI's Name? Rachael and Steve

What's your proposal story and when did it happen? Steve and I take frequent trips to Vegas and everyone kids, "I bet you're going to get married!". We went over Memorial Day weekend last year and he got a spa day for me and then dinner at Mixx at the top of The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. All the girls at the spa were joking with be saying that he was going to propose, but I didn't believe them because I figured he would propose next year. We always do one fancy dinner in Vegas, so, I didn't think anything of it.

He got us a private table (looks more like a pod - see pic), which I named "our love pod" and after dinner he got up and started walking around the table towards me. Of course, my first thought was, "where are you going? why are you getting up from the table?" Totally clueless! He got down on one knee and said that similar to our first date (which was a disaster!), I would never forget this night. He jokes that I never actually said "yes" because I was crying so much!

The funny part is that I called my sister afterwards and screamed "we're getting married!". She immediately started yelling at me because she thought we had eloped and were actually getting married (Vegas and all...). All was better once I told her that we were just engaged :)

Favorite detail of the wedding so far? ohh, this is a good question. My favorite thing keeps changing. When I went dress shopping, that was my favorite thing. Then the flowers were my fav when I met with my florist, etc.

But I'd have to say that my hands-down favorite thing is how excited I am to get married to Steve. I get the goofiest smile when I think about being his wife and building our life :) haha - that rhymed :)

What's been the most stressful part? It was very stressful at the beginning when I had so much to do. Although I love TK and all the wedding websites out there, it's almost a disservice because there are endless options!!  I used to have wedding nightmares every night.

The guest list was really tough, too. FI's family is huge and if I could, I would have loved to invite everyone. We started at 310 and now it's at 215. My venue can accommodate 240 max, so, that helped to reduce the list.

Will you do any DIY projects?  If yes, which ones? Haha - I'd like to think that I'm creative, but I'm not. I'm a CPA in a family of artists! I'm DIY-ing the programs, menu cards, and escort cards (with the help of my dad - an artist and graphic designer). I designed the save the dates on magnetstreet - does that count?

A weird quirk of mine is that I'm super super picky about fonts. My favs right now are Saffron Too and East Street EPS.

How did you hear about TK message boards? Some friends had told me how helpful they were. I started off on the September 2011 board, but find that the Detroit board is the most helpful.

Do you remember what your first post was about? Um, I think I posted something about DJ recommendations (this was before I knew about the stickies - read those first, girls!!).

I like seeing pictures so do you have a picture of your dress?? I only have one picture of me in my dress, and it's pretty blurry, but this pic is very similar to my dress, except that mine has more of a dropped waist, the organza is a little fluffier at the bottom, and I've added a belt.

I plan on wearing my hair down and will have a simple finger-tip veil.

Any pets?? No :(  I grew up with dogs, cats, fish, birds, hamsters, etc, but FI isn't a fan of animals in the house. He travels 100% and I work a lot, so, I don't think it would be fair to leave a pet alone all day and night. I do turn to complete mush whenever I see a puppy, though. They're so cuddly and cute and I must say, there is nothing better than coming home to a pet - I swear, they make your stress disappear!

What's your favorite restaurant in the Metro Detroit area? FI and I frequent Kruse and Muer and I love Toast in Birmingham, but our favorite restaurant is in Windsor, Spago's on Erie Street. FI is Italian, so, good Italian food is important. If I had to choose, my last meal would be the homeade minestrone, veal scallopini di casa with a side of gnocchi, lemon/chocolate gelato, and a limoncello shot :)

What are your wedding colors? Gold, dark champagne, and ivory. Dark champange is the main color (invitation pockets, escort cards, menus, BM dresses, and table linens), the cake and the flowers will be ivory, and gold will be more of an accent color here and there (centerpiece vases and little gold votives on the tables).

I don't have any actual pics yet, but here are my inspiration pics:

Are you going on a honeymoon, if so where? HAWAII!!! I cannot wait! We're spending 4 days in Kauai and 7 days in Maui. We originally planned to go to Italy, but decided that beach + tropical drinks + paradise island = total relaxation.

How/why did you choose your wedding date? haha - there is a thread about this in the board backlogs, I think I titled it "sports vs. wedding".

I've always wanted a fall wedding and picked our venue because the grounds are amazing in the fall, but FI is a Spartan and is a huge (HUGE) football fan. If I wanted a fall wedding, the only day I could have was September 24, 2011, because it was a bye-week for MSU. Then the conference changed and now they are playing Central. Lucky for me, the deposits were already paid by the time the 2011 line-up changed :)

Is Steve as mad as Todd is about how the Spartans are playing? it's bad - lots of yelling and expletives. Sometimes I think there is going to be a remote-shaped hole in the TV. I feel bad because he works so much and MSU is something he loves, but now it is just adding more stress.

I graduated from Walsh, so, I have no sports affiliation. I took some classes through Syracuse in high-school, so, I cheer for them during March Maddness.

Would you rather be hot or cold? I'm always cold. I'm very unproductive during the winter because I'm always curled up in a blanket. But I hate being hot, it's the worst! Especially if it's humid, because then not only am I hot, but my hair is a frizzy mess.

What is your favorite TV show still on the air?  No longer on the air? My favs right now are Gossip Girl, the Vampire Diaries, and Mad Men. I'm not sure I fit into the targeted demographics for the first two, but I still love them and worship Blair Waldorf's style.

Stuff not on the air: I loved TGIF. My sisters and I would make popcorn and snacks and watch it every friday night. Full House and Family Matters were my favs. I also really liked this cartoon called Pepper Ann and the Animanics cartoons.

Favorite movie? Grown up movie = Love Actually. Kids movie = Sleeping Beauty. I would make my mom rewind the Sleeping Beauty VHS tape all day and I would pretend I was Princess Aurora.

Favorite board game? I'm terrible at board games. Really terrible. I wish I were good, so I could play Trivial Pursuit.

How many people are in your WP? 5 on each side and a flower girl. I have two sisters and Steve has two brothers, so, we are having Maids of Honor and Best Men. We're all super close, so, it worked out perfect :)

I love these questions - keep 'em coming :)

I love your colors! Thanks! Here's hoping it all comes together!

What is your favorite alcoholic drink? Any type of wine. Recently though, I've been into mimosas, which I'm telling myself are healthy, because of the orange juice :)

Do you plan on having any kids?  Yep! I can't wait - well, I'd like to wait a few years so we can travel, but I'm excited to be a mom someday :) FI wants two boys - I come from a family of all girls and he comes from a family of all boys, so, we will see.

Haha - started singing the theme! My coworkers must think I'm nuts...

Where do you want to travel too after you're married?
Italy - that has been my #1 vacation destination since I was little. FI has a lot of family there, so, we'd like to visit the city where everyone lives.

After that, I'd love to go to England, Austria, Japan, and Australia (but not all at once!)

Favorite place you've traveled to so far?
I haven't been anywhere cool - my passport has one stamp, and that was for a work trip to Calgary!

I really enjoyed the caribbean cruse I took with my mom and two sisters a few years ago (I'm a big history dork, so, I loved visiting the ruins at Tulum). Vegas and Traverse City are favs of mine for quick get-aways :)
