DJ as a gift??

So my brother and his girlfriend have offered to pay for our DJ for our wedding! While I would never accept a gift that large from them, it is their friend who is a pretty well known DJ and often does bars and clubs. I know he has also done weddings. FI and I will obviously sit down with him to talk to him and also go see him DJ one night, but I'm still a little torn. This is a great gift and I couldn't be more excited about it, but what if we don't like his style? I'm sure my brother wouldn't offer it if he didn't think it would be a good fit for his baby sisters wedding, but who knows. Also, do I make sure my brother sign a contract with him? I know that's a little weird since they are friends but I don't want to be DJ-less at the wedding.
Thanks in advance!!

If he is a professional DJ, I don't see anything wrong with it.  Just treat him like any other vendor, ask him the same questions, see if your styles mesh.

If all goes well, sign a contract and get excited for the wonderful gift!

    Ditto Liz.

    And definitely get a contract.

Friend or not -- require a contract. Congrats on the awesome gift! [:

Some friends of ours did the same thing for us.  They offered to get us our DJ for our wedding gift.  We course refused at first as that is a huge gift.  But they insisted and the DJ they wanted to "gift" us was a friend of theirs.

We did check him out (he dj'd a afterparty for a steampunk convention).  And our friends did sign a contract with him.

So I would stop by and check out the DJ your brother wants just to double check to see if your styles work, also remember he can play different music then what he plays at a club.

Also insist that your brother gets a contract.  It help protect you, him and the DJ.

    Congrats on the gift!! :)
