Tell Us Tuesday

What was your favorite vacation you've taken?  Why was it your favorite?

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?  Why?

My favourite was New Zealand/Australia, but technically it wasn't a vacation because I had an internship and lived over there for 3 months...but I'm going to count it because i did awesome things like Skydiving, Scuba Diving, hiking a glacier, hanging out with sea lions and penguins and kangaroos! Awesome.

My dream vacation is to go back to Europe, but this time with FI and not just my family. I would LOVE to go to Italy because I've never been, but I know it would mean a lot to go to Scotland/England for FI because he's never been out of the country and that's his heritage.

Favorite vacation: Our honeymoon driving down the coast of California on Hwy1 starting in San Fran in a convertible. We stayed at a hotels right on the water in Malibu & Coronado Bay (near San Diego), took a gondola ride in San Diego bay at sunset.

    Gondola ride

    Various coastal pics

The vacation we would love to take would include Paris and Rome. We are both history buffs, and I am a complete and total foodie.

A few years ago, I was sent to Texas for work. I was there on and off for a few months and it felt like a long foodie roadtrip. I was lucky enough to be able to travel throughout the state, trying all kinds of different foods-including Tim Love's amazing restaurant, Lonesome Dove! I was in foodie HEAVEN! (except for when I tried Menudo...I don't recommend that.)

I'm looking forward to a trip out west to California in the next few months though. My FI and I have yet to take a trip together(besides to places a few hours away) so it'll be nice to relax by the ocean and go wedding shopping somewhere outside of Michigan!

New Orleans! Cheap drinks and tons of fun! It was a girls weekend.

However, I'm sure after my Honeymoon, I'll have a new favorite :)

Favorite vacation was the HM, definitely. We went to Chichen Itza (Mayan ruins), parasailing, had a couples massage, lobster dinner on the beach...

AND SWAM WITH DOLPHINS!! Best time of my life, hands down.

And I would love to go to South Africa. It's difficult to explain but my heart yearns for a safari tour and witnessing simple lifestyles - no electricity, no cell phones or running water, no FB or TK!

Two...for different reasons. Italy, because it's ITALY! I ate my weight in pasta and it was wonderful. Also, Cabo with the fiance. We stayed at a great resort and went in February, perfect timing for a tropical trip. I wish we could do that every year.

My favorite vacation was Grand Cayman in June 2006.  I came very close to never leaving by moving down there and working for a dive shop.  I loved scuba diving nearly every day, the weather was perfect for me, and the atmosphere was fantastic.

If I could go anywhere I'd go to Thailand.  I've wanted to go for years now.  I'd love to go jungle trekking in Asia and ride an elephant through a river.

I think I'm required to say Italy, because DH and I met during our trip there.  But recently I've been dreaming of Maine.  We have so many places we'd like to see, but I keep thinking about our trip to Bar Harbor 2 summers ago.

We went in August, and it was 72-74 the whole time we were there.  The woods smelled so fresh, and the hiking and scenery in Acadia National Park were absolutely amazing - and I'm not really even a woods-ey girl.  Plus, you're on the ocean.  We're not swimmers, but there was gorgeous scenery, and rocks to climb on, and we took a couple of boat tours that took us out to where the seals hang out...ooh!  and we saw something called Diver Ed's Dive-In Theater where they take you out in the boat, the diver goes down and collects whatever sea life he finds (sea stars, mussels, sea cucumbers, lobsters, etc.) and brings it up and teaches you about it and then you can hold them.  Sooo cool.

Oh - and we ate more seafood and clam chowder than I've ever experienced before, and there was an island you could hike across to when it was low tide and a sandbar was revealed.  It was amazing.  We'll be going back if I have anything to say about it.  :)

I have a few amazing trips under my belt but I think there is a tie between two for completely different reasons.

One is a trip I've actually taken a few times - Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. I have a lot of family that live out on the east coast and they go every summer. It is an amazing week of relaxation on the beach and spending time with family I don't get to see very often. It's also nice to have nothing to do for a whole week - you do whatever you want! Most of my vacations are always go-go-go.

The other is a trip FI and I took almost 3 years ago to P*nta Cana. It is the first tropical place either of us had been to, and FI's first time to the ocean. It was absolutely gorgeous there! We took a day trip out to Saona Island and it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen! Parts of Pirates of the Caribbean are filmed there! We also did a sunset cruise and just let loose all week! FI and I joke that Johnny Depp is wrong in the movies because in the Caribbean the rum is NEVER gone ;o)

I have a few dream vacation spots: Australia and New Zealand, Greece, and Fiji. They are all absolutely gorgeous in their own way!

My favorite vacation was definitely the Europe trip my parents got me for my college graduation.  Over the course of 3 weeks, we did 10 different countries (England, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland,  Lichtenstein - I have a stamp in my passport to prove it!, Italy, and Greece) and it was amazing.  I have some of the best memories and made some great friendships from the people I met on the trip.

I would love to go back to Europe with DH as he's never been.  But I ultimately I would LOVE to go to Australia.

Puerto Rico. We got engaged there. I LOVE San Juan. We loved it so much there we went back like 2 months later. So much history, culture and great weather. Tons to do.

After grad school I took 7 weeks off before starting work and spent 1 week in Delhi, India (including a side trip to the Taj Mahal), I spent 31 days in Thailand (amazing, I would totally live there), next I went to Malaysia for 10 days and then ended up in Singapore for 4 days before coming home to start work.

Best trip ever - so much culture, so little responsibility.  we rode elephants in Thailand, petted tigers, fed monkeys.... amazing.

My favorite vacation was my mini-vaca (3 days) in Chicago with FI in May. He proposed while we were on the trip! And I had never been there before so it was fun exploring the city.

I have never been on vacation outside of the country but I would LOVE to go somewhere in Africa... on a safari! I have the opportunity to go with my school on a trip to Africa in May '13 for 2 weeks but considering I will be getting married just a few weeks later I don't know if it will happen or not.
