I went today to look at it, and fell in love with the gardens/outdoor ceremony site and historic houses around the property. The price seemed right ($5000 - for brunch or lunch reception minimum, includes cake, bar package, overnight stay in one of the house suites for bride and groom, etc)....much cheaper than Greenfield Village but has the same feel. Oh and my mom actually liked this one, so we both agreed on something for once:) Anyone using this venue? Any reviews?

[QUOTE]We are having our reception there in the Alexandria Ballroom (upstairs) on 10/23. They are really great to work with and are true professionals. If you have any questions you can email me at a.spears at gmail dot com.

I hope you don't mind me butting in - but I love the Dearborn Inn and was planning on setting up a time to meet with them soon. I hope you don't mind me asking - but do you know the minimum for the dinner reception package?

It totally depends on what day and how many people you expect. We are having a saturday night reception with around 100 people and our minimum is 9K. I talked them down from 10 or 11K though. We could have had our reception in the fairlane room for less though. The real killer is the 30% tax (gratuity and sales tax).

We are planning on doing a Saturday evening reception as well, but we have more like 200 people. I am HORRIBLE at the talking people down part, I don't even know how to bring it up! LOL.
I hate the whole tax thing - it seems like all the places we have looked at is 24% or more...thanks for letting me know. Now I just have to figure out how to do the talking down part!! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />
