I peeked at your bio and you have a date in September 2014. I'm not sure if you are asking if it's POSSIBLE to have it there? There's a good chance there will be a new arena at some point, may be in the building stages in 2014.

This link will take you to the page where you can view info on functions at Joe Louis Arena: http://olympiaentertainment.com/venues/joelouisarena.jsp?dispPos=4
There are pictures of events there, with tables etc. You could have any of the colors you mention, they'd all go in any of the rooms because the rooms have all those colors.

Not sure if they would book that far out, but you could call them. I am sure it is pricey. Based on my experience, booking any of the Olympia Entertainment locations is fairly expensive.

    Good luck.

What are you looking for? Opinions on the room, the facility or the catering? Are you looking to have your wedding at the Joe? I'm just a little confused on what you're asking about?

It would definitely take a lot of closer investigation.  They may not book this far out because they have no idea what the Red Wings schedule will be at that point.  They aren't going to make sure that the Wings have an away game just because there is a wedding scheduled for one particular Friday or Saturday night.  Maybe if the wedding was scheduled for July or something they would... but I don't think they would for any date during the season.  I could be wrong though.  Good luck!

Huh?  Do you want opinions on colors or on having your wedding at the arena.  Your post is very confusing...

ETA:  I read your follow up posts and I'm still a wee bit confused.  Just call the Joe and find out about prices. Keep in mind prices will change in the next 4 years so you need to account for that in your budget.

ETA again:  Your posting history confuses me to no end.  You posted awhile ago asking about potluck receptions saying you already had a budget and were talking about guest lists, prices/head, etc.  Unless your date/plans have significantly changed, I'm am totally confused.

Yeah, this is a weird post.  Emarston - I agree with you on the post history.  Before it sounded like they were living in Western Mass and looking to get married there too.  So strange...

So you were engaged to someone not more than 9 months ago and now you're engaged to someone else?  If your wedding date is not for 4 years, I would work on building the relationship and not worry about venues.  Ideas and tastes will change a lot in the next 3 years before you start booking things...

PP are trying to help you, and no you don't need to explain if you don't want to but it helps us understand what you're asking for in the first place. Your original post was confusing because your posting history doesn't seem related to your question and your wedding date according to your bio is not for four years. Speaking as someone who will have been engaged two years by the time we get married, I can tell you that emartson is correct. Your mind will change, a lot. Almost every single decision I have made was changed. Even up to this past week I changed my mind on my dress.

I would look for ways to incorporate the Red Wings into your wedding rather than hosting your reception at the Joe.This bride surprised her new husband with a Stanely Cup groom's cake (<a href="http://parkerphotographic.com/blog/2010/06/16/wedding-photography-in-detroit-michigan/" target="_blank">link</a>). Or you could inquire to the Joe about taking pictures there.

    ETA:
I also wanted to add, that most places wont book that far out in advance either. I had a hard enough time as it was with just two years in advance for the area we're getting married (Brighton/Howell). Businesses wont know where they will be at in four years, and like Sue mentioned things can change (like locations and/or renovations). It may not be the case for every place you look at, but just something to keep in mind.

thanks for the last post that did help with ideas...i only put four years ahead because we are not sure on a date. i would rather put the latest then a date ahead where it may not happen then.
