reception venue ideas

I would like to hear reception location ideas .
We will be getting married at a church indetroit so i want to reception location to be no more than 45 minutes of driving for guests. 79 of our guest list will be out of town/ out of state so we would like a reception location with overnight accomodations . his parents are inviting a lot of people more than 60 so my once small intimate lower costing wedding is now looking like 200 invites . Im looking at places with lower costs for food and beverage. I saw the four points sheraton in ann arbor and that seems tobe tge lowest cost with overnight accomodations i could find. I would appreciate any other ideas

  • Welcome drandreasalazar!

There is a post at the top of the board with a thumbtack that has the places, prices and reviews of the vendors used by our brides.

We would be able to be a much bigger help if you answered some additional questions:

    - Budget? How much total, or per person, you are looking to spend. Based on info provided on prior posts over the years, I suspect for food and alcohol it will be in the neighborhood of $50 per person at the minimum in a hotel venue unless you are willing to have it on a Friday night or earlier in the day on Saturday)
    - Look? Do you have a particular type of venue you are seeking? You obviously want something big enough to hold 200 guests, and probably in a hotel. However, there are many banquet halls within a brief distance from large hotels. You can still get a hotel block, just have the reception close by.

This is a link to the Knot's list of hotel venues in the Detroit area: http://www.theknot.com/Vendors/Detroit-Wedding-Venues/Profiles/CAR/044?f=93:190
It is by no means all inclusive, there are many more hotels in the area.

I can personally vouch for the Sterling Best Western in Sterling Hts, we go there every year for the Mother's Day brunch and the food is excellent.

Good luck. Looking forward to hearing about your plans!
