Brazilian blowout - anyone?

Has anyone gotten a Brazilian blowout or other keratin treatment? Did you do the quick treatment or the one that takes 4 days? What salon did you go to? Would you do it again?

I know two people that have done this. One loves it and one said she didn't see a difference.

I've tried the new Garnier and Nexus at-home kits. They were okay. I'm tired of spending an hour or more on my hair everyday, but at $250+ I'd be upset if I didnt notice a difference.

TIA :)

I have super straight hair so I never had either of these done but I did just read an interesting article on the Brazilian blowouts.  Basically it uses formaldehyde and it can be really dangerous for you and your hair.  I wish I remember what site I read it on but it was more than likely cnn, msnbc or yahoo.

I did the Keratin Express.  Its all natural... no formeldahyde.  I have very very think super kinky hair when it is wet and when it dries it is just straight frizz.  It usually takes me 45 minutes to blowdry and 45 mins to then straighten it.  After the treatment.. It took 15 to 20  minutes to do my hair.  I could NEVER leave it wet and just let it dry curly because it would poof up out of control and I could do that afterwards.

I did the one that last 6 weeks and it did go away over time.  Try the short term one first.  Its usually around $80 at the Salon. If you like it and it works for you then you can chooose to do the longer term one.  Your friend just also has to remember that with the Keratin treatments sometimes with certain hair types it can take a couple of treatments to see a difference.  The other thing is that the more you do it the longer it lasts.

    Good Luck

PS.  The trademark " brazillian Blowout" has been taken off most peoples lists of salon services. People complained of a chemically smell and burning eyes.  With the Keratin Express and the Coppola formulas... The smell is more like a chocolate smell

I super curly hair and just asked my stylist about this. She said that the Gvmt is about to outlaw the Brazilliam blow outs because of the chemicals. She recommended it the kertain treatment.

I just bought the most awsome strightner. Its perfect for curly thick hair. Its by a company called Bravado and the straightner actually vibrates as it straightens.

Get the Brazilain Blowout Zero it is amazing!
  • What type of hair do you have? I am a stylist in Lansing MI. I have been doing the Brazilian Blowout Orignal and Brazlian Blowout Zero. They are amazing products and give amazing results. It is totally worth the 250. The gal who said it uses formaldehyde is incorrect. Formaldehyde is a gas that is released into the air so it doesn't affect your hair. Is you go to a salon that has the correct ventilation this does not affect you in any way. When it is flat ironed it releases a formaldehyde which is the same type of formaldehyde that bananas release when they decay. I would recommend the Brazlian over the keratin anyway. As with the Brazilian there is no wait time. If you have any questions feel free to pm me or email me at michelle.m.dyergmail.com
