Help! Any good make-up artists in the detroit metro area?

Getting married in Detroit and I'm looking for a make-up artist to come to the ceremony site. Any suggestions?

  • I used Emily Cook, I lost my phone after the wedding so I don't have her email currently but you can find her on FB. She also works a little at the sephora in Somerset mall but, a little in a salon, and she also does commercial makeup work. She was a total sweatheart and stayed calm while doing probably 6 full makeup applications and at least 5 side jobs (just eyes or just the airbrushing). She came to my house in Royal Oak to do everyones makeup.  I have her digits if you would like.
  • I used Christina from Bride on location.

A coworker used Amanie Mokdad (www.amanie.com) and the work was FLAWLESS. This lady has won awards for her makeup stylings (and has the prices to show for it).

Hannah Butler from Imagine Three.  She did my makeup for my wedding in May.  She was amazing!
  • I have been seeing Elizabeth (owner of Elizabeth's in Birmingham MI) for over 10 years.  Her talent is unmatched and she will travel in most scenarios.  I think it is important to book vendors who are their own business owners - ie, you may book a well known makeup place - but get the newbie who is still learning the tricks.  This might slide for something like floral - but makeup will effect your day more than anything - including rain...so be wise about selecting  a seasoned pro who owns their own studio!!!!! (PS - a studio location is a plus because it proves they are doing well...travelers-only don't have proof of this).

    Good luck!

I don't think this is true at all. I used Christina for Brides on Location, she doesn't have a studio because her business is serving brides were they want to be not them coming to her. She is an amazing make up artist and her work shows it. Someone could be working in a studio be brand new and not have great work. Anyone that is in the makeup business with a studio or not should have samples for you to look at.

  • Jamie Clemons is amazing.  She did my makeup for my October wedding and again in May for a wedding I was in.  I would highly recommend contacting her!  http://onsitebeauty.wix.com/jclemons

  • Katie O. at Alex Emilo Salon in Royal Oak. She my make-up and the make-up of my bridal party, mother, MIL, grandmothers, and my aunt, all in a hotel suite before we left for the ceremony. She did a fantastic job! My make-up lasted all 16 hours that it was on. I also go there for my hair on a regular basis so my usual stylist did my hair. It was perfect all night and the next morning I was able to pin it half way up for brunch, with still perfect curls. I see Roman for my hair. I'll PM you pics.
