    Weeeeellll...despite last night's dress debacle AND the bird that decided to take up residence in my living room, I've got a couple exciting (and mostly NWR) announcements.

    #1 - We found an apartment within our price range which is clean and good-smelling and in a nice-looking community and almost certainly has less nightly gunfire than my neighborhood now.  :D  On top of that, we have our own washer and dryer, they pay for the heat, gas and water, and we have cathedral ceilings, a massive bay window in the living room, AND it's a top-floor corner unit, so we only have one neighbor.  We move in in less than a month - I'm over the moon.  :D

    #2 - I posted quite a while back about how FI wants to get back into the military, but is having a hard time because he was released from his first term of service from the army with PTSD after he got home from Iraq.  He's been working with the VA Hospital, who've cleared him psychologically and stated that they believe that the army misdiagnosed him in the first place.  But the military still wasn't willing to touch him.

    Well...yesterday a specialty navy recruiter came down from Selfridge to talk to FI, and they've offered him the option to serve in the Navy Reserve for a year at his old rank.  After 6 months he can take the exams for a promotion to non-comissioned officer, and after a year he can go full-service and apply for officers' school.  He's thrilled, and I'm SO happy for him.  So...if everything goes well at MEPS next week (the office where you take your placement exams and sign your paperwork), we'll be a navy family and he'll be Petty Officer 1st Class in the U.S. Navy Reserves within a month!

    AW: My thesis will be done by Monday, at the latest!  Maybe even tonight or tomorrow (I hope so, so that I can do things this weekend other than work).

    Not really and AW, but wanted to share:

    Liz, you definitely appeared in my dreams last night.  For some reason you had a giant binder of things to give me, and we met up in a garage (why?) somewhere.  And the garage had karaoke, so of course we did that.  And you lived in Ann Arbor, which I know is not true.  And this is all really weird, since we've never met.  \end creepy story.

    Haha this makes me laugh!  It must have been a dream because there is no way I would do karaoke unless I was three sheets to the wind!  Do you remember what we sang?  I hope it was "Don't Stop Believing" because I <3 that song.

    And if you do need to do lists or timelines, I certainly have some to share.

    Also Melissa - that is great about the apartment AND your fiance!  Sounds like a fantastic week (minus the dress).

    My AW is that we close on our house next Wednesday!  Unfortunately we won't move in until August but we're very excited :)  But DH and I both got the day off of work so we'll be celebrating for sure afterwards.

    PS.. Congrats on the house Liz.  That is awesome!  I remember when we closed on our house.  It was very overwhelming at first but its the best feeling when the papers are signed and you get the keys!!

    It's Southport Apartments in Belleville.  They have 700 units, so I'm expecting that there will probably be the annoyances that come along with any community that large, especially with getting maintenance done.  But it's so much more than what we though we could afford, and every apartment looks out on a little man-made lake/pond, which is kind of nice too.  We figure we're sure there's a downside somewhere, but it's have to be a dragon or something to outweigh the up-sides.

    Melissa - those are great AWs :) Happy to hear things are working out for your FI :)

    I made our dinner menus for the reception. They're like a wrap that will go around the flatware and napkin. Please excuse the ugly dish towel in the pic - I don't have nice napkins yet...

    Yay for all the AW-ness! :)

    I don't have a ton and I've kinda been MIA but here's a few:

    WR:  We got our Marriage License on Tuesday! Ah! Now it's feeling official.  Also, we're going to have our RD at Hockeytown Cafe and due to some booking issues we are now getting the whole roof to ourselves at no extra charge! Boom.

    NWR: We moved FH into what will be our place come August.  We haven't lived together before so it's pretty exciting.  Also, the place is right next door to the high school in "10 Things I Hate About You"! :)

    Not much right now, I'm going to start the name change process today after work!  Also, I'm doing really well with my new married-woman goal of cooking more.  I've already cooked two dinners this week and have another one planned tonight.

    FI and I FINALLY booked our reception and ceremony!!!

    After months of exhausting every possible venue I could find, we have decided on Greystone Golf Club and I couldn't be more excited!! It's gorgeous and has everything that I (him too, which we says was whatever made me happy) was looking for!

    lmalear01 - I saw those pics on Church Street's FB! Beautiful!! Don't you just LOVE Mary? My FI thinks she just the funniest thing. She was even able to make the engagement photo process enjoyable for him too (I was so worried he'd be bored/annoyed).

    I have a few things to AW today, my first time AW'ing ;)

    #1: Our e pics are Sunday and I am getting my makeup trial done that day by Aleksandra Adams- so excited!

    #2: Blocked hotel rooms today, at the beautiful Book Cadillac and got an unbelievably awesome rate because my mom's best friend knows someone there!

    #3: Yesterday was my 5th straight day in the gym...FI and I are really committed to making a lifestyle change now, and I feel awesome.

    My best friend had her wedding at Graystone, I was also a bm. It was a beautiful wedding and they did such a great job.

    I've been working on ideas for table numbers. This one I really like! I bought some cheap picture frames and different colored fabrics in our color scheme and painted the numbers on. I really like it!! I figured it's never too early to get a head start on DIY projects.

    I agree.  She is the best.  My FI has been in all 5 of his closest friends weddings and all he ever does is complain about the photographers.  He loved Mary.  He actually told her he had fun and that she makes taking pictures so easy!!  So funny.

    Finally Have an AW I am excited about. We are at 65 days today and I completed my shower thank you cards. Dropped those in the mail today and I also finished our Wedding invites. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was having some BM come over and work on them the day before my bridal shower. Long story short only get like minded people together to work on DIY projects like these. By the time I got finished fixing what they "helped" me do I could have just done the whole project alone.

    But I am happy how they turned out and glad to have them out the door. i feel so real. The waiting game and hopefully pleasant RSVP game can begin! Alex did a great job of designing these and then I got a coupon for office Depot and had them print and cut everything for a super duper low price. I hope you guys like them as much as I do :)

    Greystone is beautiful!  Doesn't it feel great to finally decide on a venue?! Congrats!

    My wedding is still over a year away, but since I'm the Maid of Honor for my sister's wedding in January we have been working on plans for hers.  Got meausred for the dress for her wedding and I actually love it AND it was only $99!!!  I hear so many horror stories about ugly, expensive dresses that I was very excited about the dress she picked out!
