Shriners Silver Gardens in Southfield

Hello all,
I am still researching wedding venues and I came across one yesterday that I hadn't seen yet. It in Southfield called Shriners Silver Garden Event Center, I have only been able to view like 2 reviews on the place and wondered if anyone out there has any knowledge of the venue.

Thanks

Re: Shriners Silver Gardens in Southfield

  • I did a visit and meeting there. It is pretty inside and has a beautiful courtyard outside if you are marrying during a warmer month. There are several rooms for different size events. It's in a good part of southfield and near hotels. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite what we were looking for and the largest room has a little bit of a strange set up with a stage and steps so it would be hard for elderly guests to move to certain parts of the room. It could definitely be a good place if you are on a tighter budget and for the area.
  • I hosted a business event here and it was kind of crappy.  The service was just ok and the layout is sort of confusing depending which room you'll be in.  I know they have super cheap prices - but there has been construction in front of the building for a while and the courtyard isn't the same with trucks beeping by....(depending when you get married).
  • I went to a reception there and it was very nice.

  • Thanks ladies.. We are going to go look at it tomorrow.. Still no venue, I'm getting stressed... We need to pick ASAP! :-)

  • I feel the same way.....stressed!!! I have looked at over 12 places and the Silver Gardens was one of the first. I liked the Grand Ballroom but waited and it got booked. Then I was really considering the Charles H Wright Museum in Detroit but am a little hesitant bc of the price and the rental is only for 4 hours with an option to pay extra for additional time. I just learned that the Silver Gardens is open on my date and may book there. A friend went to a wedding there and said the food was wonderful. What did you think about the venue when you toured?
