http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheaglesThere was an article in today's "Lifestyle" section by a columnist who says her hubby is addicted. It's a constant live stream of a bald eagle's nest in Iowa. Might sound boring, but I have to tell you, it's fascinating. The story behind it: the male & female bald eagles built this nest in 2007 (it's 6 ft across, 5 ft deep, and 80 ft in the air). They have had 2-3 babies each year since. This year's baby's hatched in early April. If you scroll down, there are links to youtube where you can see the baby's hatching from the eggs. They reduced the actual hatching time of up to 24 hrs to a video that takes about 8 to 9 minutes to watch.
I know it's stupid to be so connected, but when you see one of the parents bring the baby's some food, watch them protect the baby's during the wind (which seems to be howling the whole time), it really is special.
Pass it on if you know people with pre-school or school aged kids. It's really nature at it's best.
