  • Tonight FI's daughter is coming home from her mothers house for the weekend (we have full custody, but she gets her on school breaks) and we're taking all 3 of our kids to downtown Rochester to see the lights. Tomorrow we're baking cookies for Santa and to take to my moms on Christmas morning and to give to FI's mom. Saturday, we're going to my moms so that she can give the kids the annual Christmas pajama present. Sunday morning FIs parents are coming over in the morning and at noon going to my parents. OY. This is stressful and I can't wait for this weekend to be O-V-E-R!
  • I'm working today and then FI and I are taking an early flight out of Raleigh tomorrow morning. We should be back in the mitten before noon on Saturday!! I can't wait! I'm a little sad to be swapping the fabulous 60-70's down here for the near freezing back
home but I think it'll be worth it (:

Safe travels to anyone heading out for the weekend and Happy Holidays to all the Detroit Knottie Girls!!!

  • Awww FutureMrsB81, your post reminds me of when my kids were little. We did all that stuff. Now they are 24 & 17, and no one eats the cookies, LOL.

Picked my 24 y/o son up at the airport last night, he's home from DC for 10 days.
AIRPORT TIP (for anyone picking someone up): Do not even TRY to pick up at the arrival doors/level. At 9 pm last night, there were FOUR lanes of cars stopped to pick up people at the arrival (lower) level. The single lane of traffic to even get near the doors went as far back as the tunnel, and was at least 80 cars long. I called my son and demanded he go up a level to the departure doors, where there was NO ONE.

We are having my parents over for dinner tonight, I'm making a $70 prime rib roast (eeek) and lots of sides, and opening gifts with them. We will be eating about 4 pm because they are in their 80's and driving at night is difficult. We are having them over tonight so my daughter can be available to her Dad's family for whatever they have going on for Xmas Eve & Xmas day, and Kevin & I and one or both my kids can go to his family's on Xmas Day. Having 3 days to arrange all the visitations & celebrations makes it SO much easier, LOL.

OT: Kevin has become a "tv snob" now that we have our 42" flatscreen. The Lions play at 4 pm Xmas Eve and he doesn't want to go to his Mom's to crowd around a tube tv in folding chairs to watch the game, LOL. I told him his entire family could come here (we have a large family room), but he doubts they'd want to drive 40 miles just for the tv and some food. Oh well.

My daughter came along for the ride to the airport last night and we both said we have missed having white Christmases............this brown & green ground sucks!

Hope you all have a FABULOUS long holiday weekend and enjoy seeing family and friends.

  • Today I'm off work.  It felt great to sleep in a bit.

Today: Selling my old POS car, running errands, and meeting up with one of my friends.
Tomorrow: Visiting my parents and my dad's side.  I am not looking forward to it at all.
Sunday: Christmas with my FI's family.

  • As of 2 minutes ago, I am done with my work for the day and officially started Christmas break :) now I'm off to the market to pick up supplies for the baking extravaganza that is today and tomorrow morning. Wishing everyone a great holiday and happy new year :)
  • Not working today!!! Yeah!!!

I have a few errands to run and then my brother is coming over at 2pm to help me make 200 stuffed shells for Christmas Eve.

  • Today: the last cookie-making, last-minute final gift wrapping, and tonight maybe going to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with DH.

Tomorrow: puttering around the house until we go to IL's house at 4 or 5.  Not all fun and games - I'll be doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom, and packing up cookie boxes for gifting.  But most of the pressure will be off at that point, thank goodness.  I actually might get to read a couple of chapters of a book, or something.  :O
We'll do dinner at his parents' house, then come home and watch It's a Wonderful Life (his favorite).

Sunday: Opening presents and brunch together in the morning.  Relaxing afternoon, putting together the last cookie boxes, and then going to Flint to my cousin's for Christmas dinner.

Hope everyone has a fabulous and safe weekend.  :)

  • I'm unfortunately stuck at work. Rumour has it that they'll let us out around 3:30, but because i'm a contractor paid hourly I'll probably stay till 4 or 4:30 so I don't miss out on too much time!

After I get out we need to drive from Grand Rapids to Detroit though - really getting sick of that trip.

Tomorrow: Dinner with my side of the family, still looking for other things to occupy my time though

Sunday: Dinner with his family, then it's his birthday so we're throwing a party at my parents house (rest of my immediate family is OOT so the house is empty - it'll be like high school all over again!)

Monday: Going to Bombshell Bridal with my bridesmaids so they can get measured and I can get another look at dresses!

  • Whew, I just got back from running massive amounts of errands:  windshield repair (a rock hit it yesterday and it cracked), USPS, UPS, Target, Lowe's, the bank, the mall, and Petsmart.

Now I get to wrap all the gifts, put up our teeny tiny tree since we never put our big one up, put some paint samples on the wall, and paint my toes.  Eep!  Busy Busy day.

Tomorrow we are leaving for Kzoo and we'll come back on Sunday.  This is DH and I's first Christmas we have ever spent together so I'm excited :)
  • Busy day here too, FI is having some of his guy friends over tonight to have a poker night downstairs, and I'm trying to hurry up and get a bunch of my baking done so I don't have a bunch of drunk guys trying to snatch them off of the cooling racks.

Tomorrow we are heading to Troy to visit my side of the family and since it's FI's birthday we are having a mini-party to celebrate. :) I hope he's surprised! I'm completely awful at keeping surprises from people so I've had to work EXTRA hard to keep quiet.

I hope you all have a great Christmas! :)

  • Our weekend is so busy, but should be fun.

Today I worked until 2, went to the bank with DH and grabbed a late lunch.  When I got home I did a bit of baking for the weekend.  DH and I decided to do Christmas tonight because we are busier than we thought tomorrow. And I want to clean the house before we leave town tomorrow.  I also meant to clean my car, but now it is dark and I really don't feel like it.

Tomorrow we are waking up super early and heading to DH's parents' house at 8.  We are making breakfast for his parents, sister, BIL, neice and nephews.  Then we will all open presents.  We hope to be on the road to Rochester by 12 where we will celebrate with my birth mother's family.

Sunday, we will wake up and open presents with my birth mother, her husband, and my half siblings.  Then we will head to East Lansing to celebrate with my parents, we will do gifts right away then an early dinner.  My grandparents are in town from Ohio, and haven't celebrated Christmas with us for at least 10 years. That night we will head home to Grand Haven.
