Need a Wedding Planner

My fiance and i just came seem to come together on the type of wedding we would like to have.  We can't decide on the style whether in be traditional or contemporary. Location, size of wedding or an agreeable amount for our budget.  Therefore, I was interested in seeking a wedding planner who can bring each of our ideas and must have's into a real vision!

Do any of you guys have recommendations for actual wedding planners in the metro detroit area?  If so what did you or didnt you like about them?  Your help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Need a Wedding Planner

  • There's a company called Go Izzy that I met with, and ended up not choosing, but she seems GREAT.  I have a couple friends using her.  She brings the whole style of the wedding together, and the bonus is that she's a florist and provides linens as well.  This is her website.  http://www.goizzy.com/ I definitely suggest at least meeting with her.  She'll provide you with an "inspiration page" with quotes, based on your meeting, and then you can make your decision from there.

  • Welcome to the Detroit Board Lovelylady429!

My recommendation would be to look at the top of this board where there is a push pin, indicating vendor reviews, costs, etc. All the local brides have put their vendors, grades, costs there.

Before inquiring into a wedding planner, however, I'd say the first thing you probably want to do is come up with your budget. Do you know how much money you want to spend on your wedding? Are you and your fiance paying for all of it, or are family members assisting? The brides on this board are a GREAT help, and can give you some direction before you go into a contract with a wedding planner.

Wedding planners are not cheap. If you are involving them really early in the process, they are even more expensive. If you want them to hear your ideas, or give you ideas and suggestions, you are talking about a full wedding PLANNER who will do it all from A-Z. FYI: a wedding coordinator for the day of the wedding only costs $350-$750.

My recommendation is to talk to your fiance and decide month/year, budget, guest list size, before deciding on a wedding planner. Get down the details, read the posts at the top of the board then decide whether a wedding planner is something you really need.

Also, the Knot has a LOT of vendor information on the vendor pages. You can look at locations/caterers, chapels, etc, to get an idea of what you think you may want. They also have reviews.

Good luck. Looking forward to hearing your plans!
  • I highly recommend Anatasia at Beautiful Beginnings. She has a passion for everyon'es wedding!
  • I love my planner, Jerry and Kim Young from Family Affair Productions.  Local Detroit residents who have planned not just many weddings but birthdays, ceremonies, etc.  They are very friendly, knowledgable and affordable.  They have been amazing to work with!!  Very organized and will help as much or little as necessary.

    Good Luck!
