Niagra Falls Questions??

Okay, so Damian and I mad a huge decision due to 10 billion reasons that we wil just take a mini moon after the wedding, and then our entire family is going to Jamaica during Christmas, and while there we will leave the fam for two days to be on our own.

So...who has been to Niagra Falls? Any REALLY REALLY nice hotels? I went twice, but they were just day trips. We just want to relax, hit the spa, eat, sleep and umm..well you know the rest. LOL

Any rec's would help!

Never been. Dave and I took a weekend trip to Petosky just before our 1 yr anniv. Have you thought about maybe going up north to Mackinac Island, Petosky, Traverse City or the UP?

I've only stayed at 1 chain hotel at Niagra and it was all right- nothing to write home about.

I would totally suggest thinking about Toronto, if you're heading that way anyway. It's an AMAZING city, so much fun!

We aren't Traverse City/Petosky type peeps..LOL I looked and it really didn't really didnt see anything interesting...for us, in my opinion. but hey, I may be wrong.

I second visiting Toronto. Its only maybe a couple of hours away and there are some great sights to see there. The CN tower is the tallest building in Toronto and you can see the entire city. Its very cool.

I've been to Niagara a couple of times. I think we stayed at a Days Inn. It wasn't anything special, but it was within walking distance to the Falls. There is a really nice hotel, I think its the Hilton and has a ton of great views of the Falls. I bet its on the expensive side though.

While you are there, I highly suggest doing the excursion of walking behind the Falls. We also did the Maid of the Mist and it was fun too. But the last time I was there, we went behind the Falls. It was one of the coolest things ever!

My family did a day trip to Niagara Falls when we went to Toronto quite a few years ago. We stayed at the Sheraton Centre hotel which was really nice. They have a spa in the hotel too .  It was either connected to or right next to the Eaton Centre which is a huge shopping area. There's tons of stuff to do downtown Toronto. Shopping, dining of every variety, theater/plays, nightlife, etc. And I remember we took a bus tour to Niagara Falls that included lunch at a restaurant at the falls. It was a lot of fun.

I also went to the US side of Niagara Falls a few years ago. We stayed at a hotel a few blocks away and went to the casino, viewed the falls at night (which was gorgeous....but freezing...we went in February), and went to a few restaurants/bars in the area. I would definitely recommend going to the Canadian side of the falls over the US side. I think it's much nicer over there.

I used to live in the area and I would recommend staying on the Canadian side of the falls, so much more to do there - haunted houses, museums, etc. The American side is boring. 

Ditto sunkissed - the Sheraton is right on the falls and the view is breathtaking! I stayed at a suite there once for a bachelorette party and it had a nice massive tub and all. 

The Marriott is on the water as well... Days Inn is one of the cheapest hotels around and doesn't have a view of the Falls. 

I personally like going to Niagara for the haunted houses and the bars there.. The best haunted house is by the wild mushroom bar on Victoria Ave. 

Toronto is pretty awesome too..

Brandi, make sure you and Damian have passports. The shortest distance to Niagara is through Canada on the 401, but you HAVE to have passports,or the super-drivers-licenses that can be used instead of passports.

Never been to Toronto, but Niagara Falls can take your breath away. Really majestic, and Toronto and Niagara are only about 2 hrs apart I think.

Just to clarify, the Sheraton I stayed at was not the one at Niagara Falls. We stayed at the Sheraton Centre which is right in downtown Toronto by Eaton Centre.
