Let it Snow!

Decided to make it a lazy day today because of all the snow!

I made a soft cover book off of snapfish.com from our engagement party. I got it for free, only had to pay shipping which was $3,.

I've been looking at honeymoon spots, although I can't get an actual quote yet, because you have to return within 331 days. So I'll have to wait another 2 weeks or so.

Originally we wanted to do a cruise, but lately we have been thinking about Aruba. We can do Aruba for around the same price as a cruise, its just that food isn't included like it is in the Cruise.

Tomorrow is my work christmas party, and tuesday were going to interview the last DJ! Then we make our decision and book!

Anyone else do anything productive this weekend with the weather being so snow-ie!???

Great minds think alike - I was doing honeymoon stuff today too!  We actually ended up booking which was exciting.  But it was definitely the cold, snowy weather that put me over the edge.  I need something warm and fun to look forward to.

We ended up booking expedia because it ended up being the cheapest but I'm not sure if you've heard of allinclusiveoutlet.com or cheapcaribbean.com but they were very helpful even though we didn't end up using them.  Enjoy the search :)

Where did you end up booking? Was it reasonably priced?

I think the thought of a beautiful beach and 82 degree weather is soothing right now, especially when you look out the window and you can't see the sidewalk!

We're going to P*nta Cana, Dominican Republic for 6 nights (Monday-Sunday).  It was $2642.70 for air, All-inclusive hotel (upgraded room), and airport transfers.

Like I said, we ended up booking through Expedia but I looked through about 10 different sites to price compare.  The prices differed about $200 between a few so it's definitely worth searching around for the best price.

I also read the reviews on TripAdvisor.com to narrow down the search.  The hotel we chose wasn't the #1 rated hotel in P*nta Cana but it had good reviews so I'm pretty confident we'll have a good time :)

I've been in a pretty grumpy and unproductive mood because the snow ruined our plans to go get a Christmas tree. But I think we'll book our honeymoon later today or tomorrow.

Preparing for people to frown upon my honeymoon choice because it's unusual, but we're going to Disney World! I'm very excited...it is my favorite place and luckily FI likes it a lot too. We've been there together once before, but made sure to choose the cheapest options. Obviously I want my honeymoon to be different than your average trip so we're staying at a deluxe resort which is Hawaiin themed and has a beach with hammocks, and you can see the castle and fireworks from your room. We'll also be seeing some special shows and eating at nicer restaurants. I've been waiting to book until we were sure about our hotel choice, but now that we're decided I need to book it soon so that we can get free dining during our trip.

Oh, and we'll probably make a stop at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter as well, since on our other trip we missed the opening day by a month and I was super bummed.

I love your idea :) Esp the part about stopping by the WW of HP :)

It's funny how a snowy, cold, Michigan day has inspired everyone to think about Honeymoons in non-snowy places. FI has been researching Hawaii all day :)

That honeymoon sounds awesome! I have NEVER been to disney world/land...FH doesn't think its all that impressive and tells me i have to wait until we have kids to go!

My MOH just went to the harry potter site. She was amazed.

Your going to have a great time!

I know a few people who have honeymooned at Disney and thought it was a lot of fun!  Not something I personally was interested in but I would never knock someone else for it.

Are you going to wear the bride and groom Mickey Mouse ears?

I have heard so much great stuff about that resort in DR.Maybe I can get the FI to agree to that since ti was so reasonably priced had have done some research on it but not nearly as much as you apparently.

The prices are great for 7 days and the flight is not too long which is even better and it has to be in all inclusive for it to even be an option. We are taking a cruise for my 30th with a bunch of friends so a cruise is out for the honeymoon. Since I got so much time off I will put some more effort into the HM.

Do you need a passport for DR?

YES! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />  That is completely non-negotiable, I can still remember seeing a couple on my first trip there (I was 7) wearing those ears and asking my mom, who explained what a honeymoon was and that they were on theirs. I told her I would have my honeymoon there too someday and that I would get those special ears...and now I am! Haha.

FI wasn't sure about it till I let him know that since Disney is a slightly more unusual honeymoon spot they kinda make a fuss, and you can usually get a free desserts and maybe some fastpasses by wearing the ears. He was like, "Free stuff?? Yeah, alright, I'll wear them."

Yes, you do need a passport.  The DR was the cheapest Caribbean island that I found (at least for our travel dates) since FI refused to go to Mexico.
