Check?

We went to Men's Warehouse today and picked out ALL the tuxes for everyone, including our 2 sons. It was a LONG one hour picking all this out, but holy cow... men have it sooooo much easier than us ladies. We also picked a new "reception venue". after finding out the quote from the caterer we picked out, we realized that we just couldn't afford that and decided to put that money into a downpayment for a house and some new furniture. (we'd rather have that, then 4 hours of a reception). So, for about $900 we're having a small reception (50 people) at a restaurant. We're cutting out DJ, Hall, Caterers, etc. It's saving us almost $5000 and we're happy.

We now have the extra money for some downpayment, furniture and for our 4 day trip up north after. I'm stressed, but feeling a bit better about things.

Re: Check?

  • Congrats on the tuxes!
And congrats on cutting out the venue and just going with a restaurant. Weddings are so gosh darn expensive!!

Thanks! I agree!!! After talking to my dad and letting him know I was thinking about doing this, he totally agreed with me and my thoughts. He said he spent tons on a wedding back in 75 and did it for my mom. He wanted something small and wanted to put the rest towards a house or savings, but he wanted to make my mom have the day of her dreams. He told me that if people complain about my changes, I can send them to him lol. I love my daddy.
  • Congrats :) you seem really happy with this decision and like its reduced a lot of stress. It takes a lot of courage to re-look at your wedding planning, say "this isn't what I want", and make the change. Even better that your family is so supportive. So, now you get the wedding you want, a down payment, and furniture - total win :)
  • That's awesome!!

Why the "Check?" though? It should say "CHECK BABY YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!"

I agree! I am happy with this decision. I'm concerned what people will think about the different change and that they might think its not a "real reception", but I'll have to find a way to deal with that own issue within me. It's not what I wanted, but it's what we have to do to make sure our kids have a nice home.

And yes, you're right... CHECK YEA BABY!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe.
