Satin chair covers versus polyester

I'm going to pick out my linens next week and I was wondering what you guys thought about satin chair covers versus polyester...? My concern with satin is that it will cause static cling and that people will slip off of them. I know it sounds dumb, but it would probably be me on the floor! And, static cling is my middle name.

The satin ones look pretty, especially since my primary colors are gold and ivory, but I do like the look of polyester with a sash. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I do like the look of the satin gathered chair covers, but now that you mention it, I would think if someone was wearing a silky dress and had a couple of drinks, they may slide right off their chair! Not too mention the possible static.

I'm going to stick with polyester though 'cause I love the sashes! And they don't make satin chair covers in fuschia!

I dont like either. I hate when I go to weddings and I'm sliding off the chairs because of the covers. If I really had to choose I would do polyester.

I'm with Lisa voting no chair covers at all, but polyester seems like it will cause less problems because I would be the dufus sliding off the sating chair.

we had satin (not my choice - linen company messed up) and there were people who said they were sliding on the covers... do i think it was a problem, not one bit. i doubt that you are actually going to fall out of your chair.

that being said... i hated satin chair covers - i'm still not really a fan of them, but i did get A TON of compliments on how great out linens looked - my mom says people are still commenting on them today. i think the satin was a great choice for the type of room i was in; it complimented my table linens perfectly as well as the room.

i think if your guests are sliding on their chairs (like during the meal) it would be super annoying. especially if there are childrenz.

i prefer polyester because of the "comfort" in comparison to satin (not that they're comfortable by any means).

I originally wanted satin but after I did some price shopping I think the satin covers came out to be more expensive.  The polyester will look just fine in my opinion - I didn't even think about the "sliding around" factor for satin chair covers so I'm glad I went with the polyester!

Thanks, everyone! I really hate the chairs at our reception hall and I love the look of chair covers. The satin and polyester are the same price, but I think I'll go with the polyester and a satin sash. I appreciate the help!
